School Committees: Fundraising

As fundraising is a necessary mission of all schools, this committee is charged with a goal to develop a fundraising plan with initiatives that are creative, not overwhelming to the families and financially enhancing for the school. The more successful this committee is in their endeavors, the better chance of maintaining a lower tuition rate and increasing the ability to purchase additional needs for the school.

Fundraising plays a major role in keeping our school moving forward. It is a matter of fairness for every family to participate in meeting this obligation. We have joined with many other schools with implementing a Fundraising Program that includes a tuition supplement. Everyone must participate for the program to successfully reduce the tuition increase each year. We need all of our fundraisers, and hope that you enjoy the comradery experienced in supporting St. Joan of Arc School through our various events. Remember, they are all held in an effort to make Catholic Education affordable to everyone who desires a Catholic Education, and at the same time, provide multiple opportunities to socialize in the process.

SCRIP - Scrip is a term that means, "substitute money". When St. Joan of Arc families purchase scrip, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of you already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. Your can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for St. Joan of Arc School.  100% of the profit you earn using SCRIP goes towards your fundraising obligation.  http://www.glscrip.com/shop/Default.aspx

RACE FOR EDUCATION - involves the entire school. An exercise-inspiring event that is a  “lap-a-thon” in which each grade level runs, jogs, walks, however they can get around a quarter mile track for an hour. The challenge involves obtaining donations by contacting friends, relatives, employers, etc. to sponsor your student as he or she "races" laps around the course. Last year we raised over $20,000 and the kids had a blast! 50% of your family’s donations collected go towards your fundraising obligation.

UNITED WAY – you can allocate St. Joan of Arc School for your United Way contributions by specifying St. Joan of Arc School on your designation form. 90% of your donation go towards your fundraising obligation.

SCHOOL PICTURES  - Pictures are taken in the fall (uniform) and the spring (non-uniform). St. Joan of Arc receives a contribution for each package produced or purchased; this means you financially help your school while filling your portrait needs.  Another school tradition that benefits SJA.

POT O’ BLUE & GOLD DRAWINGNEW this year.  Tickets will be sent home to each family to be sold at $26 each.  Drawings will begin in September and continue each Friday until March for a chance to win $50 each week.  A Pot Luck Supper will be held at the Spring Fling in March for the final drawings for prizes of $1,000, $500, $250, 100, and $50.  Tickets will be sold until the day of the final raffles!

MARCH MADNESS – The annual raffle drawing held in March.  Each family receives 5 tickets to sell for $15 each.  A drawing is held every Friday in the month of March for chances to win $25, $50 or $100. Last year we raised over $6300.00. The students and their families LOVE this moneymaker!

SPIRIT WEAR – a great way to show school spirit and raise money for the school.  We are offering a great selection of good quality t-shirts, sweats, polo shirts and fleece jackets as well as other merchandise for you to show how proud you are of St. Joan of Arc School.

GOODSEARCH - is a search engine that donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. Because it's powered by Yahoo!, you get proven search results. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers — the users and the organizations do not spend a dime! We could earn a penny per search…and that adds up! If 100 people do an average of 2 searches per day we could possibly earn $730.00! Check it out at www.goodsearch.com

GIANT BONUSCARDS - GIANT offers the A+ School Rewards program to local schools and customers. With the A+ School Rewards program, SJA earns CASH each time you shop at any GIANT store using your BONUSCARD. Once you designate St. Joan of Arc to receive your A+ School Rewards points, then each time you shop at GIANT using your BONUSCARD between October 4, 2009 and March 13, 2010, SJA will earn credit for 1% of your total purchases. At the end of the program, SJA will be awarded a check for the total amount earned through participation in the program.  This does not affect your gas, turkey, etc. points.  We encourage you to ask your friends, family, co-workers and whomever you can to designate SJA as their preferred school.

KARN’S RECEIPTS - “1 For The Schools” is a great program where SJA collects Karns Quality Foods receipts, which are redeemed for a 1% cash rebate! This gives St. Joan of Arc the flexibility to purchase what is needed the most. Additionally, this program runs year-round—so SJA never stops earning!  Send your register receipts in to the school or drop them off in the designated area by the school office.

REDNER’S RECEIPTS - Redner's developed the 1% Save-A-Tape program. Each family must get a Save-A-Tape card at the store. By using this card each time you purchase merchandise at Redner's, your receipt will be designated as a Save-A-Tape customer receipt. Send your register receipts in to the school or drop them off in the designated area by the school office.  The school will receive 1% of the total receipts submitted… Let’s say 50 families spend $75.99 per week at Redner’s and you saved tapes for a year, we would receive a check for $1,950.00. There is no time limit and no dollar limit.  Sounds pretty easy!

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS - Campbell's Labels for Education is a program that helps St. Joan of Arc obtain free educational merchandise in exchange for proofs of purchase collected from eligible Campbell brands. You can help by saving and forwarding proofs of purchase to SJA. We can redeem them for FREE merchandise such as computers, software, physical education equipment, musical instruments, Library books or even a minivan! Send your register receipts in to the school or drop them off in the designated area by the school office.

BOX TOPS  - General Mills Box Tops for Education has a twelve-year history of helping school like SJA earn extra cash that we need. Each Box Top coupon is worth 10¢. Clip Box Top coupons from your favorite products. Send Box Tops to school. Twice each year, Box Tops will send a check to our school for each Box Tops coupon redeemed, up to $20,000 each year.

TURKEY HILL MOO MONEY  - A refreshingly easy fundraiser that can raise tons of funds for St. Joan of Arc School. It's easy. Just drink milk, collect the lids, and get Moo Money! Think new computers, office supplies… the possibilities are endless! For every 500 lids collected, SJA will get $25 to use however you want. That's 5¢ for each lid!

TYSON PROJECT A+™  - Clip and save Tyson Project A+™ labels from participating Tyson products. Turn in the labels at school. SJA will redeem them for cash. Each label is worth 24¢. The maximum number of labels that may be submitted within a calendar year (January–December) is 50,000 or $12,000 worth. That’s a lot of chicken nuggets!

USED UNIFORM SALE – Families may “recycle” their children’s gently used uniforms at St. Joan of Arc. Proceeds directly benefit the school. Donations of clothing are accepted all year long.  Sales are held throughout the year.

EMPTY INK CARTRIDGES – Staples Rewards – bring in any empty ink or toner cartridge and the school can and earn $3.00 in rewards at Staples. This can be used towards office and school supplies for the school.

TARGET VISA  - You can support St. Joan of Arc just by shopping with your Target® Visa® or Target Guest Card®. Through School Fundraising, Target will donate an amount equal to 1%* of your qualifying Target Visa or Target Guest Card purchases at Target stores or target.com to SJA. In addition, 1/2%* of qualifying Target Visa purchases outside of Target stores or target.com will go to SJA. We receive their donations twice a year, and funds accumulate all year long.

HERSHEY ENTERTAINMENT & RESORTS, the Hershey Entertainment Complex offers a wide selection of job tasks that need to be completed during times of the season when their staffing is not up to its full potential. Typically those times of the year are mid-April weekends through Memorial Day, and mid-August through the end of September. The SJA group will be asked to work needed shifts for understaffed times.  After the group’s shift is completed, a check will be made out to St. Joan of Arc School. You help Hershey Entertainment & Resorts and they help St. Joan of Arc School raise the funds it needs.

AMAZON.COMin process - Amazon's SchoolRewards Associates Program is an easy way to fundraise for SJA year-round. We can earn up to 10% of every purchase that staff, parents, teachers, students, and others make through Amazon. It's free and there are no strings attached. The potential earnings are unlimited. Schools can earn up to 10% of the purchase price of any item bought through Amazon, as long as the shopper accesses Amazon products through the school’s SchoolRewards link.
