The SJA Special Needs Ministry works to help our parishioners who have special needs and need assistance in order to participate in SJA masses and activities including assistance with religious education for children with special needs and transportation to and from parish Masses/events. We also serve as a liaison for parishioners with special needs who need assistance to become more involved in any of SJA’s ministries. If you or someone you know could benefit from this ministry, or if you would like to volunteer to help further develop this ministry, please let us know by contacting the parish office at (717)533-7168.
Upcoming Event: Mass Celebrating the Gifts of People with Disabilities
A Mass Celebrating the Gifts of People with Disabilities will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 5:00 PM at St. Pius X, Selinsgrove. Bishop Gainer will be the principal celebrant and all are invited to attend. There will be a reception with Bishop Gainer following the Mass. Persons with disabilities will serve as altar servers, gift bearers, lectors and greeters. If you would like to volunteer for one of these roles or know someone who may wish to volunteer, please contact Lisa Kronmuller, SJA's parish advocate, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (717) 443-8523 as soon as possible as the Diocese needs to confirm all volunteers by August 1, 2014.
Religious Education for Students with Special Needs - Volunteers Needed!
SJA’s REP program supports all students, including those with special needs. Our program includes a special needs class held on Sunday mornings, helpers to provide 1 on 1 assistance in regular education REP classes, and in-home instruction for children who cannot attend classes.
Volunteers: If you have a background in special
education and/or willingness to learn and volunteer for this important ministry,
we would welcome your support. Please contact Connie Egan at the (717)533.8578 or email@example.com. Thank you!
