I was informed last week that Father Pius will be transferred as chaplain to the Hershey Medical Center (with residence here at Saint Joan of Arc) and will go to be the interim parochial vicar at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Lewistown. The change will take place on February 15th.
We will miss Father Pius here in Hershey but we certainly wish him all of God’s choicest blessings as he goes to Lewistown. Father will most likely be given a new assignment in June along with the regularly-planned priest changes. This assignment came about quickly but it is important that we say “farewell” and “thank you” to Father Pius for his more than 3 years of service to our parish. On Sunday, February 14, Father Pius will celebrate the Noon Mass and the CCW will hold a reception afterwards in the school cafeteria. All are encouraged to be present for Father’s last Mass and attend the reception. The life of a priest is always a life of change but it is the goodness of people we serve that makes the changes more bearable. The new chaplain at the Hershey Medical Center will be Father Michael Opoki, AJ (Apostles of Jesus) and will arrive the week of February 15. I know that our parish will open its arms to Father Michael with the same love and respect all the other priests have received when coming to Hershey! Please pray for your priests as we pray for you! Father Al Have you marked your calendars yet for 2/10? Ash Wednesday services are scheduled for 6:45am, 9:00am & 7:00pm.
The Clothing Drive is just around the corner. Life Teen will be collecting clothes, shoes, and accessories before and after the masses on the weekend of February 20-21st. Clean out your closets and bring in the stuff you no longer use for those who are less fortunate in the Harrisburg area.
