By praying in the Divine Mercy Novena you may receive a Plenary Indulgence with usual norms. Novena pamphlets are available on the tables inside the main church entrance. The Novena does not have to be prayed in the church for the indulgence.

For most of our lives we have probably been calling this day PALM Sunday. And this makes sense because we receive the blessed palms and imagine ourselves accompanying Jesus into his Holy City, Jerusalem.
This is the beginning of Holy Week and the palms we take home are tangible reminders of this celebration. But, in fact, today’s solemnity has a longer name: PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD. The triumphal entry into Jerusalem is recalled at the beginning of Mass but it is the passion, the suffering and death, of Jesus that is at the heart of our celebration.
Today we hear the words of the Prophet Isaiah speaking of the suffering servant of God; in Saint Paul’s letter to the Philippians, we hear the great hymn of the early Church singing of Christ’s dying on a cross; and, this year, we hear the Passion Narrative from Saint Luke’s Gospel with his own unique details of the death of Jesus. All this is given to us by the Church to help us better situate ourselves in the events of Holy Week. We walk with Jesus from his triumphal entrance into Jerusalem to the Last Supper on Holy Thursday to his death on the Cross on Good Friday to his victory over death at the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. I encourage you to participate in all the liturgical services of Holy Week in order to best celebrate the joy of Easter!
We would like to express our gratitude to this week's bulletin sponsor, Advanced Insurance Solutions. Thank you for your continued support!
The Consolation/Bereavement Ministry of St. Joan of Arc will again offer support groups for the grieving the loss of a loved one. Each group will consist of no more than ten participants. The evening group will begin on Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30 PM in Room AB. The morning group will begin on Wednesday, April 6 at 9:30 AM in the St. Lucy House. Each meeting will last for approximately one hour. Do not hesitate to attend if your grief is related to a loss that happened years ago. There is no time limit to grief and some losses take a lifetime to resolve. To reigister for a group or for more information call Joyce (AM group) at 717-566-0657 Kathryn (PM group) at 717-838-9825. Please respond by Wednesday, March 30.
The Hershey Food Bank and the Knights of Columbus would like to thank the parishioners of St Joan for your generous donations of food, personal care items, and cash for the past 18 years. During 2015 you donated more than 5000 lbs of food items and over $6700 in cash. This does not include the Thanksgiving Day collection or the additional donation from the K of C parent organization. A special thank you to those who have continued leaving food items in the basket in The Holy Family Chapel during the winter months. We traditionally hold the collection on the last weekend of each month between March and November. Since Easter falls on March 27 this year we will delay the first collection until April 23 & 24. Until that time you may continue leaving items in the back of the church, or, for special pickup, call 717-639-1157.
Please join us on Good Friday, March 25th at 1:00pm for an Outdoor Stations of the Cross. We are excited to be hosting this new event and hope for it to be enjoyed by many. Please note that children are welcome at this event though it is not geared to children.
Are you and your family new to St. Joan of Arc in the last six months?
