The weekly parish bulletin is a primary source of communication for our parishioners. Bulletin Sponsorships are an essential part of allowing us to continue to offer this weekly news without additional financial obligations to the parish. When a company chooses to advertise in our church bulletin, they are not only promoting their business to our parish community, but also making a financial sponsorship to help offset the cost of printing this weekly publication.
If you run or are involved in a local business, please prayerfully consider this opportunity. For more information about becoming a bulletin sponsor for the St. Joan of Arc Church parish bulletin, contact Mike Jurosky at 717-648-5996 or email: mjurosky@diocesan.com If you already support our parish through a bulletin sponsorship, please be assured of gratitude and know that we are very appreciative of your generosity! 40 Days for Life is the largest internationally coordinated pro-life mobilization in history, helping people in local communities end the injustice of abortion through (1) Prayer & Fasting (2) Community Outreach and (3) Peaceful Vigil. This year's campaign runs through April 9th.
St. Joan of Arc parishioners will be praying the Rosary this SATURDAY, April 1st, on the public right- of-way outside Hillcrest Women's Medical Center (a local abortion facility), 2709 North Front Street, Harrisburg. We will begin at approximately 10:30 after attending the 9:00AM Mass and car-pooling to Harrisburg. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come and pray. Babies lives are saved when we pray!
It is hard to believe that we are at the Fourth Sunday of Lent already! I don’t know whether this has been a good Lent or not for you but it certainly is flying by so quickly. The readings for Year A during the Season of Lent remind us that following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, the call to discipleship, is never easy and is a life-long process of conversion. From the temptation of Jesus in the desert to the transfiguration of Christ on the mountain to the story of the Samaritan woman at the well, we realize that the Christian life is a turning away from sin, the recognition that suffering is an inevitable part of life and, and that a relationship with Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is at the heart of a disciple. Today’s beautiful Gospel of the man born blind asks us to look at the blind spots in our lives and to turn to Jesus for healing and a new way of seeing. Ultimately, we are called to see with the eyes of Jesus, to let his vision to be our vision. As we look back on this Lent (and our lives), let us see the places where we have been blind to the presence of Christ in our lives and may we be always open to the healing grace that he offers us!
Father Al The Bishop McDevitt Chamber Choir will be singing at the 10:30 Mass on Sunday, March 26. Under the direction of Mr. Chad Reed, the ensemble will present special Lenten choral selections. St. Joan of Arc cantor Sandy McInerney is a member of this choir. We thank them for the wonderful opportunity to hear such a talented choir!
The newly formed Haiti Committee is working on bringing awareness to St. Joan of Arc regarding our Sister Parish in Haiti, Our Lady of Lourdes. We are excited to announce we have added more information to the Haiti section of our parish website, including a short video which provides a glimpse into the humble parish community that we have supported over the years. Please take a moment to visit the Haiti Ministry Page here or watch the video on our YouTube channel here.
Reminder: Please join us on Friday, March 31 from 6-7 PM in the school cafeteria before stations for soup and a short presentation highlighting our efforts so far, as well as the current needs of this humble parish and school.
