It appears Father Arena will be joining our parish later this month!
Congratulations to the diocese's five new priests, ordained this morning at St. Patrick Cathedral. Father Richard Mowery, Father Brian Olkowski, Father Steven Arena, Father John Kuchinski and Father Samuel Dubois.
Diocese of Harrisburg Father Mowery will serve at Holy Name of Jesus, Father Olkowski at Corpus Christi, Father Arena at St. Joan of Arc, Father Kuchinski at Seven Sorrows, and Father Dubois at St. Theresa.
June means lots of things to lots of people. For students, it means the school year is over. Families and individuals think of vacations and backyard barbecues. For most of us, it means the chance to get out into nature and soak up the summer sun. For priests, it is the time for changes.
As you probably all know, Father Sahd will be leaving us here at Saint Joan of Arc on June 20th to become the pastor of Saint Mark’s Parish in Greencastle and Saint Luke’s in Mercersburg. These parishes are going to be so blessed to have him with his gentle, priestly ministry. I want to publicly thank Father Sahd for the many kindnesses he has shown me this past year. He literally introduced me to this parish and for this I will be eternally grateful. We have become friends this past year and I will miss him greatly.
Next weekend, we will be saying goodbye to him after the Saturday 5:15 Mass and then again at our Second Sunday Socials after the 9:00 and 10:30 Masses. Please come out to thank him for all he has done at this parish. And keep him in your prayers---daily! I am sure you will also warmly welcome the new parochial vicar—whoever it will be— when he arrives on June 20. Priests expect change but that doesn’t make it any easier. Oh, and have a great summer!
Blessed are we to have such a strong and faithful leader for our Diocese!
Question: What is your favorite part about being a Bishop?"
Response: He looks right at them with a great smile and tells them, “This!”

The Saint Thomas More Society of Central Pennsylvania, an organization of Catholic lawyers, judges, public office holders, paralegals and legal assistants, respectfully invites you, to attend the Feast Day Mass of Saint Thomas More to be celebrated by the Most Reverend, Ronald Gainer, Bishop of the Diocese of Harrisburg, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 8:30 AM at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church. The purpose of this Mass is to gather to pray for God’s guidance and to invoke blessings upon those who work in the administration of justice or government. Priests who wish to concelebrate are asked to bring their alb and diocesan stole and vestment. Deacons are asked to do the same.
*Please note that this will replace the 9 AM Mass that day.

The Daughter's of Mercy hold an Annual Calendar Raffle each year to benefit the retired Sisters of their Order. Unfortunately, this year the weather did not cooperate on the weekend they were selling tickets following Mass.
If you normally support this cause, or are interested in doing so, tickets may be purchased at the parish office or the school office for $20. Each ticket is eligible for 102 drawings between June 5 and October 15th. It's never too late to purchase.
If you have any questions, please contact Sister Eileen in the school office.
