Several items were found in the parking lot where our Festival was held this year, including a Fitbit, pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses. Please contact the parish office at 717-533-7168 to claim these items.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. May we always be grateful for this most precious gift and also for the gift of the priesthood. It is through the hands of a priest that the Holy Eucharist is given to us. May we always pray for our priests!
Tomorrow, June 19th, the rectory will be a hub of activity as moving day for priests is upon us! We say good-bye to Father Michael Opoki, chaplain at the Hershey Medical Center, and wish him all of God’s greatest blessings as he leaves to become pastor of Mary Help of Christians in Lykens and Sacred Heart Mission in Williamstown. We welcome Father Dijo Thomas, MSFS who will take Father Michael’s place at the medical center. Father Anthony Dill, the new pastor at Holy Spirit Church in Palmyra, will also be in residence at Saint Joan of Arc while his rectory is being prepared for him to live there full-time. It is like a monastery here in Hershey! It is a good thing when priests live in community and whether our stay is long or short, it is a blessing from God. Thank you for all of your support of our priests and for the many kindnesses you show us all! God bless you! Father Al St. Joan of Arc Parish is again sponsoring with Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area a special one day collection of household items, which will be sold at Habitat’s ReStore located in Harrisburg. All proceeds benefit Habitat’s activities to promote safe, decent and affordable housing for lower income persons and families.
This special collection will occur on the St. Joan of Arc parking lot along Areba Avenue on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please do not drop off any items prior to the time indicated. Items to be collected include appliances, furniture, cabinets, building materials, tools, hardware, light fixtures, home décor items, and household electronics. Latex paint is accepted at ReStore, but not on the truck. All items must be in working order and in useable condition. Examples of items NOT collected include televisions, clothing and shoes, mattresses/box springs, faucets, used anti-freeze and motor oil, unframed glass, carpet, wood with nails, water heaters & dishwashers. This event is a good opportunity to get rid of unwanted items for a good cause and receive a donation receipt for tax purposes. We urge your participation in this event. Questions may be directed to Chuck Gassert at 566-5058.
