Merry Christmas! To the world, Christmas was one day - December 25th! But to us Christians, Christmas is not just a day but a season! We celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ all the way up to January 10th. I know that there is a tendency to take down the Christmas decorations and turn off the lights by New Year’s Day but I encourage us to really celebrate the Season. The hectic pace before Christmas is over and now we can take some time to quietly reflect on the Mystery of the Incarnation we celebrate in this season. Perhaps in the light of the Christmas tree in our homes we can thank God for the gift of His Son!
FYI: We did not fill the DRE position here at the parish although we had many fine resumes. The plan is to find an interim director/coordinator from January until May and re-open the application process in the spring. Our main goal is to get the best possible DRE for our REP program. Say a prayer that we find the right person! Father Al

This week I was told by Father Thomas that he is being transferred by his community to a new position in New Jersey. He is now on vacation with his family in Nigeria and will officially begin his new assignment at the beginning of the new year. We thank Father for his priestly ministry here at Saint Joan of Arc and promise to keep him in our prayers. May God bless him in all his future endeavors!
As we say good-bye to Father Thomas, we reflect on the need for many more priestly and religious vocations in the church and especially in the Diocese of Harrisburg. As 2016 draws near, may we all pray for many vocations from our parish in Hershey. While the influence of priests and sisters are important, all vocations begin in the home. The family is truly the “incubator” of vocations. Parents play such an important role in the lives of their children. A vocation can either be fostered or hindered by attitudes within families. An individual will never really be happy if he or she is not following the will of God. Parents only want their children to be happy. Therefore, let us pray that our sons and daughters truly respond to God’s will if the Lord is calling them to priesthood or religious life. When it comes to the vocations of our children, there can be no greater prayer than “Thy will be done!” Father Al Vigil of Christmas - December 24, 2015 5:00 PM - Church 5:15 PM - Gymnasium 5:30 PM - Cafeteria 8:00 PM - Church Midnight Mass - Church (Music begins at 11:30) Christmas Mass - December 25, 2015 9:00 AM - Church
