It's not too late to register for the upcoming conference "Bringing Church Home: Reimagining The Family On Mission" taking place at the Diocese on March 15-17. Bringing Church Home: Reimagining the Family on Mission
The Amore Project helps the whole Church rediscover the family as the domestic church and the New Testament ‘oikos’ as a center for community and mission. Amore trains married couples to embrace their marriage as a sign of the gospel and a calling to minister among those who are far from God. The theme of the 2017 conference, “Bringing Church Home: Reimagining the Family on Mission” focuses on the goal of releasing a movement of married couples who live as agents of Christ’s self-giving love. Believing that mission often arises when the people of God seek reconciliation in the broken places, the conference will help attendees seek a great awakening in homes, networks, neighborhoods and families. The conference is a partnership and collaboration between the Diocese of Harrisburg, Mistero Grande, Truro Anglican Church, the Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Fresh Expressions Team. Register here UPDATE: We have experienced an overwhelming response to the 6 week series we will be hosting beginning in February “Catholicism: The Pivotal Players”! Due to the number of registrations received, we had added a Monday afternoon session. You may still register for this session if you would like to be added to the waiting list. There is still space available in the Tuesday evening sessions, however space is limited.
Due to overwhelming interest in this series we hope to run the program again in the near future. It seems as if more and more people (especially young people) are caught up in the vicious cycle of addictive behavior, whether it be drugs (heroin is an especially virulent problem here in Pennsylvania), alcohol (always a problem), and pornography. The latter is especially widespread because of the ease in which pornographic material is available through computers and cell phones. This is not something only the Church is worried about. Even secular society is recognizing how detrimental pornography can be, especially to children. This past week on the Priests’ Continuing Education Workshop, we had a wonderful speaker on this subject. Did you know that the average age in which a child is first exposed to pornography is seven years old? Unbelievable. There is an excellent workshop being held in our diocese on November 12th at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Mechanicsburg that will address the problem of pornography in our society. Called INTEGRITY RESTORED, it will address this problem head on and give very practical ways to deal with it. More information will be forthcoming in the bulletin and through flyers and pulpit announcements. Pornography can ruin lives, families and relationships. Think about attending this workshop. It may be the best thing you do this year! Father Al For more information on this event, or to register: Click Here ![]()
