On Monday, December 19th we will be decorating the Church for Christmas. Decorating will take place following the 9:00am Mass and at 7:00pm that evening. All help is welcomed and needed. ENRICH A CHILD’S LIFE: Want to know more about our faith? Sometimes the best way to gain a better understanding is to teach the faith to our youth. The REP office is looking for volunteers to act as hall monitors, classroom aides and Catechists. Ideally we would like to see 2 adults per class. Background checks are required. If you are interested please contact the REP Office.
On Tuesday, June 28, Living Our Faith ministry will make our next visit to The Vineyard. This will be our last Visit to God’s Vineyard until fall. We will travel to the Joshua Learning Center and meet with the teens who find refuge there. Joshua Center offers hope and support for at-risk city youth through educational and vocational opportunities. This proactive program serves preschoolers through high school teens. This summer, they will employ former participants who now are college students to run the program and mentor the students.
We will depart from St. Joan of Arc lower parking lot (corner of West Granada and Glen Rd.) at 9 AM and will adjourn about 2 PM after our post visit social gathering. Space is limited so please sign up as early as possible. Car pools will be arranged. Please contact Anne Searer at 717- 533-9636 or email@example.com for further information or to sign up.
Hearts to God, Hands to Work - At the Prayer Shawl Ministry our hands are very busy as we knit or crochet prayer shawls and lap robes. Our hearts are very generous as we create these beautiful items and give them to those in need.
If you would like to join us, we meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:00 to 3:00 at St. Lucy's Hall.
Questions contact: Kathy Palmer at 566-1481 or Norberta (Bert) Curran at 302-228-9735
“Dear altar boys and altar girls, the closer you are to the altar, the more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the Word and the Body of the Lord, the better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the joy you have received.”
- Pope Francis, August 2015

National Volunteer Appreciation week was April 10th through 16th. We celebrated by mailing cards to our treasured volunteers and inviting them to attend one of two Masses where the intention being offered was for the generous volunteers of our parish community.
You may be curious as to why volunteers are so important to us. Without the generosity of the dedicated parishioners who volunteer and give the gift of their time on a regular basis, our parish would not be able to offer all that it does. The Priests and parish staff are humbled and appreciative to witness those who selflessly continue to give their time and talents to our church. A gift of time truly allows us to extend our resources to their absolute fullest potential.
At the end of our lives, the talk will likely be about the depth and expression of our generosity. How did we live and give for God and for others? In this way, what we keep forever is only what we give during our lifetime - and the spirit with which we give it. This certainly doesn’t pertain only to monetary giving. Stewards see that all they have in life is a gift, including their time & talents. They are freed to give with joy and find God’s peace and purpose in their generosity. Real generosity requires real sacrifice in proportion to our blessings.
If you are not already offering your time to the parish in some capacity, we ask you to prayerfully consider getting involved in a parish ministry or offering your services in another way that could benefit our parish community. Everyone has something to offer, no matter how small you may feel it is. If you are struggling to determine what your gifts are, we would be happy to discuss with you what opportunities may fit you.
We challenge you to ask yourself how you can become a more generous person in the ways that will matter most in this world and for all of eternity.
