Annual Mission Trip Support: Fr. Beiting Appalachian Center
There will be six men traveling to Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center in Louisa, KY on October 30, 2016. The Mission Center has not assigned us our fall project yet, but we will let you know in further bulletins as soon as we know what we will be asked to do. As usual, our volunteers take along all their own tools and pay for their own meals, travel and incidental expenses. In addition, we almost always buy a variety of items needed to complete the jobs we have accepted. If you would like to help with these expenses, please send your donation to: Larry & Jan Duckart 5455 Ridge Road Elizabethtown, PA 17022. For our records, please note on your check that this is for FBAMC. Thank you in advance for your generosity & support.

Two weeks and counting! On Oct. 15 and 16, the SJA Living Our Faith ministry will be accepting your donations for our 2nd annual Caring Cards and Calendars collection.Look for our table outside the church at all masses (in case of inclement weather, our table will be under the portico leading to the school entrance across from the front of the church).
Please consider cleaning out that drawer or box in your home containing leftover new or unused Christmas cards and envelopes, and any-occasion greeting cards with envelopes. We also accept 2017 wall calendars. All items will be donated to inmates in our Pennsylvania prison system. Your donated items will brighten the lives of our incarcerated brothers and sisters, who will appreciate them more than you could imagine. Questions? That Man is You! is an interactive, multimedia men’s program focused upon the development of authentic male leadership. Over the course of three years, That Man is You! successively considers men in their relationship to God, to their spouse and to their children. The program content harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive. It is particularly indebted to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II. That Man is You! is successful at attracting large numbers of men, including younger men still actively parenting, and then transforming their spiritual lives. Indeed, independent research from a Faith Advisor to The Gallup Poll reveals That Man is You! to be one of the most life transforming programs ever studied. For more information, or to register, please visit the TMIY Ministry Page on our parish website here The Annual CCW Flea Market & Rummage Sale is Friday and Saturday! Hours are Friday (8am to 3pm) and Saturday (8am to 11am). Behind the Scenes: A Sneak Peak!A reminder from our Food Bank Ministry: The Hershey Food Bank is Open with Summer Hours!
With warm summer days ahead and the children off from school, the Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach would like to remind families who have encountered challenging economic times that we are here to help. Our purpose is to serve the Derry Township community by providing food and assistance with the temporary needs of families and individuals in financial distress, no matter how large or small your family may be. Examples of “in need” include: -if your children receive free or subsidized school lunches -if you are on the SNAP program -if you lost your job or have a low paying job -if you are a single mom or dad going through difficult times -if you are on low fixed income or disability or receive medical assistance -if you are on Section 8 housing program The Food Bank is open to serve clients during five different time periods each month but also works with families that have conflicting schedules. Each family is permitted two food pick-ups per month. Our families receive fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, eggs, meat, juices and other staples to feed the entire family. We also have diapers, baby food, paper and personal care products. We also provide other services such as emergency utility and rent assistance for established food bank clients, one on one budgeting classes, and referrals to other nonprofits and government agencies for needs we are not able to meet. The Hershey Food Bank has been serving the Derry Township community for almost 50 years and is totally staffed by volunteers. We have gone through great changes, from serving our families out of the community’s church basements to building a new residence at 120 E. Derry Road. This wonderful facility was made possible thanks to the great support we have from many committed local businesses, residents, churches and civic clubs. Our supporters and volunteers have been so giving of their time and resources to help our families…..we are very thankful! If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please email us at hersheyfoodbank@verizon.net or call us at 717-520-3143 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to helping those in need!
