Today we celebrate World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Pray for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, especially for our diocese. Also, please consider praying for vocations or spiritually
adopting a priest as a part of your daily prayers. If you are considering such a vocation, please talk with Fr. Al or contact Fr. Brian Wayne (717) 657-4804, or email: frbwayne@hbgdiocese.org Please note that Matthew C. Morelli, a seminarian of the Diocese of Harrisburg, is being considered for the order of Priest.
This announcement is made in accordance with the law of the Church. If anyone knows of any reason why this person should not be ordained, they have an obligation in conscience to contact the pastor of this parish or Father Brian J. Wayne, Director of Vocations in the Diocese of Harrisburg as soon as possible. Congratulations to Elizabeth Federici and Shadan Shahswar who received the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. We warmly welcome them into the Catholic Church.
A big thank you as well to their sponsors/godparents Pat Cyr and Judy Pritchett for accompanying them on their journey into the Catholic Church. Congratulations! Are you a parent of a child entering 1st or 7th grade? If so, and you intend for your child(ren) to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion or Confirmation in 2019, please remember to register your child for R.E.P. (our Parish Religious Education Program). There is a 2 year preparation required by the Diocese to receive these Sacraments.
Registration is open now. Information can be found on the parish website here or by contacting the Religious Education Office at 533-7168 Ext. 306 or email: rep@stjoanhershey.org Please join us on Sunday, December 18th at 7:00pm for an Advent Penance Service. Several priests will be available to hear confessions.
There will be no confessions on Saturday, December 24th. Last evening was a very blessed day in our parish! 84 students (7th & 8th graders) received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Ronald Gainer. As a parish community we rejoice and send prayers of thanksgiving in honor of these students:
If you did not have a chance to see the ABC 27 news interview with Deacon Mortel last evening, they captured some great clips live during Confirmation. You can read the article or watch the video here.
Last evening ABC 27 was interviewing Deacon Rod Mortel about the Hurricane touching down in Haiti. You can read the full interview and watch the video clip here. Following the interview, the News team set up in the Church and captured some live footage of 84 seventh and eighth grade students receiving Sacrament of Confirmation from the Bishop Ronald Gainer.
Once again we are reminded how blessed we are to have Deacon Mortel as part of our parish family! |
