Our VBS program is looking for a few folks who can sew simple costumes for our children to wear in our Bible lesson activity: simple tunics and sashes that can be pulled overhead and tied at the waist similar to what is pictured here.
If you can help, please contact Marcie Warner at (717) 533-7168 Ext. 112 or email: mwarner@stjoanhershey.org Congratulations to Kate Naughton for earning the National Girl Scout Religious Award, “Spirit Alive”
recently. This award program is designed to assist girls in grades 9-12 in discovering how the Holy Spirit moves within their lives, calling them to a greater participation in the ministry of the Church. Kate will be recognized by Bishop Gainer for achieving this award at the annual Scout Mass on April 22, 2018 at Good Shepherd Church. Because Kate has earned at least three National Girl Scout Religious Emblems, she is now a recipient of the prestigious Region 3 Scout Award. All families with children currently enrolled in REP should have received a letter regarding our simplified plan for 2018-19 registration. If you did NOT receive this letter, contact the REP office. *Don't forget the "Pre-Registration" tuition discount ends March 31st!
Those NEW to REP: If you have a student in grades K-8 for the 2018-19 school year, who will not be attending a Catholic school or be taught in a Catholic homeschool program, registration materials can be found on the parish website, in the rear of the church, or in the parish office. Please contact the REP Office with questions or concerns at (717) 533-7168, Ext. 306 or REP@stjoanhershey.org A meeting to begin planning this year's Vacation Bible School will take place in the school library at 11:30am on Feb. 11. Please come and share your ideas!
VBS is June 25-29, 2018! A message from our Youth Coordinator...
Every year, I'm blown away by the generosity of the people of St. Joan of Arc. Last week Life Teen had our annual clothing drive to support the ministries and missions of Harrisburg. We collected over 140 bags of clothes and that was awesome. The weekend and the week that follows is always a rush, physically and emotionally. Parishioners don't get to see the teens work really hard sorting the clothes and bagging them up to get them ready for delivery. Teens don't get to see the fruit of that labor as I deliver the needed items to the Catholic Worker House, Silence of Mary, Downtown Daily Bread, Shalom House, and Shining Light. A couple of these places, it's a drop and go with little to no interaction with anyone. With Downtown Daily Bread and Shining Light, I was able to sit and talk with 10 gentleman and 4 women who would be getting these much needed warm clothes and coats. They were eternally grateful. Being able to sit and talk with these men put a face on why we have this clothing drive every year. With that I thank you for your continued support of this yearly event. Without you this wouldn't be possible. I pray for God's peace and grace to all. Pax, John |
