Did you know we received almost $15,000 in gifts last year that benefited our parish thanks to the Charitable IRA Provision?
The Charitable IRA Provision allowing for qualified charitable distributions of up to $100,000 per year was been made permanent in July of 2015. Many parishioners who are IRA holders benefit from this giving opportunity through RMD’s each year. In 2015 St. Joan of Arc graciously received almost $15,000 in gifts related to RMD’s that benefited our parish community. A required minimum distribution (RMD) is the minimum amount, required by the IRS, you must withdraw from your IRA each year once you have reached the age of 70½. This creates a win - win scenario for parishioners and our parish. By making a donation from your IRA directly to a charitable organization, you avoid the penalty of the tax and are able to use the charitable contribution as a tax deduction. Please keep in mind anything you choose to give is always greatly appreciated. Even the smallest gifts can make a significant impact. If you have questions or would like to discuss designating your gift to benefit a specific cause, please contact Jackie Abel in the parish office at 533-7168 ext. 121 or email jabel@stjoanhershey.org. More information is also available on our website here.
