Exciting news in this week’s message from Father Al... Congratulations are in order! This past week, Sister Eileen Marie, Principal of our parish school, was informed that St. Joan of Arc School was named a National “Blue Ribbon” School by the United States Department of Education. This is an amazing honor for our school and parish community.
A “Blue Ribbon” School designation means that we have been recognized as a school with “a tradition of excellence and a history of achievement.” These awards are given to many public schools each year, but only 50 private schools (Catholic, Christian, charter, etc.) are named each year. Over the years, less than 6% of private schools in the country have achieved “Blue Ribbon” status! We are only the fourth Catholic school in the Diocese of Harrisburg to receive this award. It is a great privilege and speaks of the high quality of our parish school. Special thanks goes to Sister Eileen, the faculty and staff, and especially the parents and students who make up our school family. Special recognition and gratitude is extended to Susan Hampton, former president of our Board of Education, who spearheaded the process and in many ways made it happen. St. Joan of Arc is a wonderful school and offers a fine academic and religious education. Consider sending your child to our school. The Blue Ribbon doesn’t make it special; the Blue Ribbon recognizes that it is and always has been special! God bless St. Joan of Arc School! Father Al
