From The Pastor: 12-9-2018

I cordially invite all of you to our Parish Open House today, Sunday December 9, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm in the Parish Center. All are welcome, but especially all of those who volunteer in our parish throughout the year! Thank you and God bless you for the time and energy and devotion you give to the Church!

This year for Christmas Eve we will have our 5:00 pm Mass and just ONE overflow Mass at 5:15 pm in the gymnasium. There will not be a Mass in the school cafeteria. I just wanted to let you know as you plan ahead for Christmas!
 
I will be using my column to answer some of the many questions you have regarding the Clergy Sexual Abuse Crisis. These questions and answers will be a regular (but not necessarily every week) part of this column.

Answers To Your Questions

Q: "Father, were the priests listed in the Grand Jury Report, who had credible accusations against them, punished in any way?”

A: Of the 38 priests from the Diocese of Harrisburg in the Grand Jury Report, 30 of them are dead. The other eight had long been removed from active priestly ministry and can no longer present themselves as priests. They have all been laicized or in the process of being laicized (in common parlance, “defrocked”). They are no longer, since their removal (sometimes decades ago), priests in good standing in the Diocese of Harrisburg.
