Laudato "Si" Revealed Holy Spirit Parish in Palmyra is offering a 7-week study of Pope Francis' encyclical “Laudato Si: On Care For Our Common Home.” Addressed to all the people of the world, Pope Francis' letter calls for a radical transformation of economics, politics, and individual lifestyles to confront environmental degradation, pollution and climate change.
On Monday, April 4, 2016, at 7:00 pm, Rev. James Podlesny, Pastor of Holy Spirit, will provide an overview and summary of Pope Francis' letter. On April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, and 23 from 7 - 8:30 pm, a parishioner-led study group will read and discuss how Pope Francis' benchmark statement, the biblical texts, and the scientific consensus on major environmental change, might inform and impact our local community, and how we might once again treat this world as our beloved home. Participants will read each of the six chapters prior to the discussion session. Both the overview and the 6-week study are free and open to all interested. Please enter at the East Entrance of the Social Hall/Classroom Building. To register, call the Holy Spirit Parish Office: 717-838-3369, x9; or email: Church@HolySpiritPalmyra.com. To arrange a car pool from St. Joan of Arc parking lot, contact: Anne Searer, asearer@comcast.net, 717-533-9636.
