Albert John Marone, 88, of Hershey, PA passed away on June 7, 2024, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born October 7, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA son of the late Vincenzo and Carmella (Patitucci) Marone. Albert served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and graduated from both LaSalle and Temple Universities with Master’s Degrees. Albert’s career included many achievements including meeting the love of his life, Rose Marie Colello at Bell Telephone Company in Philadelphia, PA. He then worked for Penn Plastics and at the International Latex Company (ILC) in Dover, DE, a company that created the Apollo spacesuits. However, his most rewarding vocation was serving as a high school teacher in Milford, Dover, and New Castle, DE. As an educator, Albert changed the lives of countless young people by teaching them GED requirements and vocational skills. Later in his career, he worked for the federal government as a senior cost analyst for the U.S. Naval Air Systems. Upon retirement, Albert relocated to Harrisburg, PA with his wife to be closer to his beautiful grandchildren, Colton and Lauren Currey. He later moved to Hershey, PA and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and their Areba Club. Albert always had a special place in his heart for the underdog and would assist those in need. He was known for building or repairing houses for low income families and completing community projects, such as the Santa Clause House in Milford, with his students. In addition, Albert was also a lifelong dedicated and loyal fan (through good times and bad) of the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles and greatly enjoyed the most recent long awaited Super Bowl win in 2018. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 66 years, Rose Marie (Colello) Marone; daughters, Cynthia (Scott) Currey and Susan (Kenneth) Marone-Heeke; grandchildren, Colton and Lauren Currey. He was also a member of a large extended Italian family and will be remembered with love and fondness playing his baritone ukulele by his countless nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Rose Marie Ploucher, Anne Ianni, and Frank and Henry Marone. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, at 10:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA. The family will begin receiving guests at 10 AM. Interment with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery following the mass.
