Peter Anthony Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at the age of 61. He passed in the presence of his loving wife, Donna, at Linden Village in Lebanon.
He was born March 3, 1964 in York, PA, the sixth of seven children to the late Donald and Vera (Boczek) Jones. Peter was a graduate of York Catholic High School and received his B.S. in Accounting from York College of Pennsylvania. He went on to have an accomplished 38 year career as a mortgage loan officer, and was awarded many honors for his gift in sales. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey and an active member their Knights of Columbus Council #6693. He was also an active member and an officer of the West Shore Sertoma Club. Peter viewed his greatest accomplishment in life to being a devoted family man, he excelled in his role as husband, father and grandfather. Peter said “If I could live my life over again, I would spend more time with my family.” Peter also enjoyed downhill skiing, hiking, travel, fine dining and Phillies baseball. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to make people laugh and was always ready for a new adventure. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jones; daughter Hannah, husband Tyler and grandson Bode Schmittel; daughter Rachel Jones and husband Christian Poarch; daughter Sarah Jones; brother Bruce and wife Candy Nusbaum; sister Sue and husband Dale Widmayer; brother Jeff Jones; brother Dennis and wife Wendy Jones; sister Krista Jati. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Michael Nusbaum. Viewing will be Tuesday, July 29th from 5:00pm -7:00pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory in Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 30th at 11:00am with a visitation beginning at 10:00am in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Joan of Arc Council #6693, 305 West Areba Avenue, Hershey PA 17033 or West Shore Sertoma Club, 146 Sheraton Drive, New Cumberland PA 17070.

Devoted husband, father and grandfather, Andrew Polanichka passed away on July 19, 2025 at Harmony at Hershey after a brief illness.
Andrew was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1933 to Nicholas and Susan (Chuvan) Polanichka. After completing high school, Andrew served in the U.S. Army. For the majority of his life, Andrew worked as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Even after retirement, he continued to do what he loved by serving as a mailroom clerk with Penn State Health-Hershey's Medical Center. Andrew recently celebrated 64 years of marriage with his wife Joanne (Zawacki). Their married life began in Washington D. C., but settled in Rutherford Heights where they raised their daughters. After 50 years, they moved to Hershey to be closer to their granddaughters. Andrew was an avid Penn State fan and spent many fall weekends cheering the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium, as well as traveling to numerous away and bowl games. Andrew's affiliations include the American Legion, Rutherford VFW, Rutherford AmVets, Hershey Italian Club, Penn State Alumni Association, Nittany Lion Club, St. Catherine Laboure Church and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. In addition to his wife Joanne, Andrew is survived by his daughter Susan and son-in-law Robert Hetrick, his daughter Helene and son-in-law Thomas Placey, two granddaughters, Emma and Rebecca Hetrick, and his brother Nicholas and sister-in-law Maryann and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Michael. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24 in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A private interment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Ann Mary (Kirk) DeAngelo, who departed this world on July 10, 2025 at 6:44 pm. Born on June 22, 1943, in Yazoo, Mississippi, to Margaret and Thomas Kirk. Doris lived a life filled with love, purpose, and countless cherished moments shared with family and friends. Doris was known for her strength and kindness, which touched the lives of everyone she encountered. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & soon to be great, great-grandmother. She brought light and laughter wherever she went, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Doris and her husband of 40 years, Louie, raised their children in The Bronx, NYC and subsequently moved to Middletown, PA where they enjoyed retirement. Doris loved to tell stories about her family memories to anyone that would listen. Doris enjoyed gardening, drawing, reading, baking and spending time with her husband until his passing in 1999. Doris, being a strong-willed Irish woman, continued after her husband’s death to live a full life in Pennsylvania. Doris is survived by her sister, Victoria (Kirk) Davisson (MS) 4 children, Thomas Anthony (PA.) Gary Louis (Fl), Donna Ann (Fl) and Margaret Ann (PA). Her 4 grandchildren, Colleen Marie (Fl), Jessica Ann (Fl) Brandy Li (PA), Gary Louis II (Fl), Her great-grandchildren, Matthew Myers (Marine), Damion Luis (Marine) Madison Le (Fl), Leyla Padme (Fl), Isabella Marie (Fl) Lillian Paige (Fl) who will carry forward her spirit and memories. She is now reunited with her husband Louis Joseph DeAngelo, her parents Margaret and Thomas Kirk, her brother Gary Lynch, her sisters Patricia Lynch and Dorothy Sorge, her Aunt Virginia Opilo, her grandson Justin Tyler, and her great-grandson Bronxton J. in eternal peace. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Make a Donation - Diabetes Foundation, reflecting Doris's passions and values. Doris will forever be remembered for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the profound impact she had on all who were fortunate to cross her path. Rest in peace, dear Doris -- you will always be in our hearts as the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister EVER! Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. There will be visitation from 10 am to 11 am prior to Mass. The Rev. Alfred P. Sceski will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Middletown, PA. “Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name.” (An Irish funeral prayer) Francis X. McCarthy, 97, passed away peacefully at his home in Hershey on Sunday, July 6, 2025. He was born in St. Clair, PA on April 4, 1928, the second son of the late Peter J. and Dorothy (Pfeffer) McCarthy. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and St. Clair High School in 1946. After high school he entered the U.S. Army in 1950. He served his country in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He received a B.S. in Elementary Education as well as a Master's Degree from Kutztown University. He later received his Administrative Certificate from Lehigh University. With over a 30 year career in education, Francis was a 6th grade teacher, supervisor of student teachers at Elizabethtown College, both principal and assistant principal at the Elementary and Intermediate schools and retired as the Director of Staff and Community Relations for Derry Township School District.
Francis was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Hershey where he served many years as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion. He also was an active member and past Grand Knight of SJA's Knights of Columbus. He was a long time member of the Hershey Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow award. He was a life member of PSEA and NEA as well as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He especially enjoyed traveling as a member of the Areba Club. Francis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Barbara (Hovis); his 2 children, Kevin (Julie) of Leonardtown MD and Karen of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Erin (Ned) and Bryan. Also surviving is his brother Raymond (Jane) of Hamilton Square, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 4PM on Sunday, July 13th, followed by a visitation from 4:30-6PM in the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 14 at 11:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey, celebrated by his pastor, Very Revered Alfred P. Sceski, V.F. Interment in Hershey Cemetery will be private. The family respectfully request contributions to Heart of the Parish Fund, c/o St. Joan of Arc Church 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033, in lieu of flowers. Michael Thomas Morris, 98, passed away at his home on June 7, 2025. Born on March 9, 1927 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, Mr. Morris grew up in Lansford, Carbon County, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from St. Ann’s high school, he received a football scholarship to Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts. His college football career ended when he was drafted during WWII to serve in the United States Navy. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Holy Cross College and finished his education on the GI Bill. During his college days, he wrote for the College Newspaper, The Crusader, which featured his column entitled “The Morris Chair”. He also was a radio announcer for the school radio station WCHC and later at the Worcester Radio Station WTAG where he gave hourly news updates.
Upon graduation from college, he entered Dickinson Law School. After earning his Juris Doctor degree, he moved to Hershey, Pennsylvania and started a law practice in Harrisburg, Schafer & Morris. Later he founded Derry Oil Company which serviced the local Hershey area. Mr. Morris also established Derry Realty Company in Hershey which grew to include several satellite offices. His interest in real estate soon grew to construction with several projects in the Harrisburg area including: Lincoln Apartments (Hershey); Wagner Morris Building (21st & Bypass) and Holy Spirit Medical Office Building both in Camp Hill; St. Joseph Medical Office Building in Reading; Bergner Building (Harrisburg - current site of Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts) and other housing developments in Elizabethtown and Annville. He was honored by the Dauphin County Bar Association as a member of more than fifty (50) years. Mr. Morris had ownership interests in numerous companies, including: Kroehler Cabinet Company (MO); Fort Steuben Products, Inc. (W.VA.) and locally - Farmers Pride, Inc. (AKA Bell & Evans Chicken - Fredericksburg), Mark Hershey Feed Mill (Lebanon), and Franklin Family Farms (Franklin County). Mr. Morris was the son of Reverend Michael T. Morris and Ana Jumbelic along with two sisters, Eleanor and Ann Louise. On August 15, 1955, he married Imogene Smith of Uniontown, Pennsylvania who was widowed upon the tragic death of her husband, Roger C. Woodard, while flying a mission for the Air Force over Poyang, North Korea in 1950. Imogene had two children from this previous marriage, Patricia and Roger. Mr. Morris is survived by his son, Michael S. Morris, Esquire, his wife Judge Anne E. Covey, their two children, Katy and Michael, as well as his daughter Patricia and her two children, Sean and Heather, and three great grandchildren. He was also very active in his community as an Alternate Delegate to the 1964 Democratic Convention in Atlantic City, N.J., Appointed by the Governor as the Secretary to the Board of Pardons, past Commander of American Legion Post 386 (Hershey), and President of the Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club where the organization hosted the NFL pre-season game between the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Colts at Hershey Stadium. Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be immediately following at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. Robert James Knowles, 74, of Ashburn, Virginia, formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on May 18, 2025.
He was born on September 17, 1950 in Rockville Centre, NY, son of the late Harry and Gloria (McMasters) Knowles. Robert was a retired Federal Senior IT specialist with the FDIC. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn, VA. Robert is survived by his wife, Janet (Fratti) Knowles, son, Michael R. Knowles; daughter, Kristina Boyd, son, Robert Knowles; grandchildren, Jaxson Knowles, Sydney and Brandon Boyd and Alexis Knowles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. Rosemary McCormick was born Rosemary Michaud on October 13, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was raised by her parents Eugene and Doris Michaud with three siblings, Joann, Thomas and Elizabeth. She attended local schools: St. Luke's Elementary, Our Lady of Peace High School, and St. Mary's School of Nursing. In 1963, she met John McCormick at a Valentine's Day dance at her school, and they were married October 3, 1964.
Together with her husband John, Rosemary built a life and family that included two sons and two daughters: Andrew, Martin, Maria and Kathleen. Rosemary and John shared four grandchildren: Ashlyn, Autumn, Garrett, and Weston. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Rosemary is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Grates of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A longtime member of the Hershey community, Rosemary valued her family, faith, and health. She loved learning about her ancestry and enjoyed singing in St. Joan’s choir. Rosemary passed away on May 21, 2025 at the age of 82 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, John, a brother Tom, and a sister JoAnn. |
