Richard C. Mooney, 77, of Hummelstown, formerly of Media, passed away on September 9, 2024 in the Hershey Medical Center.
Richard was born on October 30, 1946 in Chester, PA, and was the son of the late Carl and Sara (Highfield) Mooney. He had one sibling, Joyce Mooney, who preceded him in death. Starting his career in 1972 as a Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, Richard served 33 years, beginning his career in Bethlehem, PA and completing his career and service in Hershey, PA retiring with the rank of Major. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. In the same year he started as a Trooper, Richard married Susan (Jeninia) Mooney, his high school sweetheart. They were married for 52 years and had two children, Carla and Kristin. Richard loved his family dearly, was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons, Michael and Joseph, who fondly referred to him as “Pop”. Richard is survived by his wife, Susan (Jeninia) Mooney; daughters, Carla (Mike) Puleo and Kristin Mooney; and grandsons, Michael and Joseph Puleo. A visitation is being held Thursday, September 12 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey followed by mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 13 at 10:30AM, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Richard will be laid to rest alongside his father, mother, and sister in the Media Cemetery in Media, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation or to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

John Edward Evans, 72, of Palmyra, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2024 in his home.
He was born October 3, 1951 in Reading, PA, a son of the late Robert and Catherine (Purcell) Evans. John received his B.A. in Economics from the former Allentown College. He retired from Ever Cleaning Enviromental, Inc. where he was a purchasing agent. Memberships include: St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus Council #6693 of Hershey. Surviving is his wife, Kathryn (Faszcza) Evans; daughter, Maureen Rathod and husband, Jigar, of Smyrna, GA; son, Andrew Evans of Millbury, MA; Granddaughter Natalya Rathod; sisters, Marie Ferro of Laureldale, PA and Sheila Mengel of Bethlehem, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Evans. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Wednesday, September 11th in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. Visitation at the church will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park in Annville. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 305 West Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033 . |
