Barbara Mandes (1930-2025)

Barbara Lou (Miller) Mandes, a resident of Traditions of Hershey and long-time Hershey resident, passed away on 25 October, 2025.
She was born July 7, 1930 in Altoona, daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Kinzer) Miller.


Barbara dedicated much of her life to raising her family, along with her late husband, Hugo. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and sang in the Adult Choir for over 30 years as well as the Resurrection Choir; and was a member of the Prayer Shawl Group.


Barbara is survived by her sons, Ted (Donna ) Mandes, James (Cindy) Mandes, daughters, Theresa (Chip) Cain, Gina (Greg ) Mumaw; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo R. Mandes; sons, John David Mandes and Anthony Joseph Mandes; and brother, David S. Miller.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 29 October at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests for visitation at Noon.  


Barbara will be privately interred in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
