Carmen Anthony Chango, 105, of Hershey, formerly of Mt. Carmel, passed away on December 15, 2024 in the Hershey Medical Center.
He was born on September 27, 1919 in Mt. Carmel, son of the late Joseph and Cicidia (Celucci) Chango. Carmen graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1939 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theater, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and served in New Guinea and Admiralty Islands, receiving a Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He worked and retired as a Quality Control Inspector with the New Cumberland Army Depot. Mr. Chango was the oldest living member at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. His other memberships include Knights of Columbus Council #2004 and the Leader Center for Active Life. Carmen is survived by his son, Robert J. (Nancy) Chango; granddaughters, Natalie Chango and Dr. Angela (Dr.Christopher Holt) Chango-Holt; great grandchildren, Nathan, Eleanora and Maxwell Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Ridilla) Chango; companion, Roberta Cona; and nine siblings. A visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, 10AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to either: Heart of the Parish Fund c/o St Joan of Arc Catholic Church or Leader Center for Active Life.
