A tribute to a strong Irish woman
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Ann Mary (Kirk) DeAngelo, who departed this world on July 10, 2025 at 6:44 pm. Born on June 22, 1943, in Yazoo, Mississippi, to Margaret and Thomas Kirk. Doris lived a life filled with love, purpose, and countless cherished moments shared with family and friends. Doris was known for her strength and kindness, which touched the lives of everyone she encountered. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & soon to be great, great-grandmother. She brought light and laughter wherever she went, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Doris and her husband of 40 years, Louie, raised their children in The Bronx, NYC and subsequently moved to Middletown, PA where they enjoyed retirement. Doris loved to tell stories about her family memories to anyone that would listen. Doris enjoyed gardening, drawing, reading, baking and spending time with her husband until his passing in 1999. Doris, being a strong-willed Irish woman, continued after her husband’s death to live a full life in Pennsylvania. Doris is survived by her sister, Victoria (Kirk) Davisson (MS) 4 children, Thomas Anthony (PA.) Gary Louis (Fl), Donna Ann (Fl) and Margaret Ann (PA). Her 4 grandchildren, Colleen Marie (Fl), Jessica Ann (Fl) Brandy Li (PA), Gary Louis II (Fl), Her great-grandchildren, Matthew Myers (Marine), Damion Luis (Marine) Madison Le (Fl), Leyla Padme (Fl), Isabella Marie (Fl) Lillian Paige (Fl) who will carry forward her spirit and memories. She is now reunited with her husband Louis Joseph DeAngelo, her parents Margaret and Thomas Kirk, her brother Gary Lynch, her sisters Patricia Lynch and Dorothy Sorge, her Aunt Virginia Opilo, her grandson Justin Tyler, and her great-grandson Bronxton J. in eternal peace. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Make a Donation - Diabetes Foundation, reflecting Doris's passions and values. Doris will forever be remembered for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the profound impact she had on all who were fortunate to cross her path. Rest in peace, dear Doris -- you will always be in our hearts as the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister EVER! Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. There will be visitation from 10 am to 11 am prior to Mass. The Rev. Alfred P. Sceski will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Middletown, PA. “Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name.” (An Irish funeral prayer)
