Elizabeth Marie “Beth” Kilcoyne 1949 - 2024
Elizabeth Marie “Beth” Kilcoyne, 75, passed away on December 11, 2024, at her South Hanover Township home in the presence of her loving husband, Tom. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on November 23, 1949, the first of five children of the late Joseph and Rosemarie (Buechele) Martin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (“namia”, sister, and loyal friend. Beth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Patrick Kilcoyne, Jr.; their four children, Sean (Genevieve Maxwell) Kilcoyne, Erin ( Dr. Adam) Buerk, Kevin (Juliet) Kilcoyne, and Megan (Brian) Straczewski; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lillian, and Brenna Buerk, Aidan and Violet Kilcoyne; and Trevor and Elliot Straczewski; three brothers, Dr. Joseph (Phyllis) Martin, James (Anne) Martin, and Dr. Lee (Dr. Laura) Martin; and ten nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Janis Martin Huling. After second grade, Beth moved to Altoona, Pennsylvania, where she completed her education at St. Leo Catholic Elementary School, Bishop Guilfoyle High School (1967), and the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing (1970). She had a brief career as a registered nurse at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg before dedicating herself to being a homemaker and mother. Beth was a devout member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Over the years, she volunteered at church and for her children’s scout groups. She enjoyed journaling, writing letters and family history, reading, collecting postcards and recipes, cooking, baking, gardening, walking, and watching British mysteries. However, she was happiest when she spent time with her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, Pennsylvania at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The family will receive visitors in the church one hour before Mass. At a later date, a private committal service will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Altoona, Pennsylvania. Beth's resting spot is a short walk from her childhood home. In place of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA, 17033, or to the Honor Book Program of the William H. and Marion C. Alexander Library, 200 West Second Street, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania 17036 for new Louise Penny books.
