Lou Bushman, 75 , of Hershey, passed away on December 9, 2024 in his home with his family by his side. He was born April 17, 1949 in Harrisburg, a son of the late Paul W. and Cecelia (Lawrence) Bushman.
Lou was a 1967 graduate of Hershey High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Temple University. He retired as an auditor from the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General. Lou enjoyed cooking and was the owner operator of Soups Etc. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey and the Hershey Italian Lodge. He had also served as a board member for the Hershey Baseball Association. Lou loved music and concerts, especially Woodstock, and shared that love with his sons. Lou was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed many trips to Abruzzo, Italy to visit his Italian family. Even though Lou endured a lot in life, he never complained. His loving wife had been a part of his life since they attended grade school together, and they would go on to be inseparable and happily married to each other for 47 years. Lou’s sons were his pride and joy. Lou had many lifelong close friends whose antics brought much laughter over his stories. He loved to laugh and smile. His most favorite words of wisdom were “love everybody, trust few, paddle your own canoe”. Surviving is his wife, Lorrie (Schiavoni) Bushman; sons, Louis Bushman Jr., and Derek Bushman; brother, Paul Bushman, Jr. all of Hershey. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:30am in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hershey. Visitation will begin at 9:30am. Interment will be private in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in Lou’s name to Gemma's Angels, 15 East Main Street #25, Hershey PA 17033 or visit www.gemmasangels.org.
