Vincent Emil Pantalone, 69, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hershey and Camp Hill, passed away on December 5, 2024.
He was born March 26, 1955, in Braddock, PA, the son of the late Emil and Dorothy (Downey) Pantalone. Vince graduated from Hershey High School in 1973 and continued his passion for football as a star wide receiver at Moravian College, where he was a four-year starter and team MVP as a senior in 1976. In 1997, he was inducted into the Moravian Sports Hall of Fame. Pantalone spent thirteen seasons coaching at Lebanon Valley College, mainly as defensive coordinator but also working with the linebackers and quarterbacks. Prior to coaching at Lebanon Valley, Pantalone coached at Lower Dauphin High School (1991-1997), Hershey High School (1998-2000) and Cedar Cliff High School (2001-2004). While at Lower Dauphin, Pantalone led the Falcons to three Mid-Penn Conference championships and to the PIAA Class AAAA state championship game in 1995. He was a three-time Mid-Penn Coach of the Year and was the 1995 PIAA District III Coach of the Year. In total, Vince coached football for 38 seasons. Vince began his career as an educator in the Lower Dauphin School District before continuing at Hershey High School. He retired from teaching in 2004 following his tenure at Cedar Cliff High School. A true lover of literature, he found great joy in connecting with his students, bringing the works of his favorite authors to life in the classroom. In 2018, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by publishing his own book, Incident on the Road to Canterbury. While Vince was deeply passionate about football and teaching, his greatest love was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, taking immense pride in his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. The memories he held closest to his heart were those he made with his five children and eight grandchildren. Vince is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carla; sons, Robert (Ashley), and Phillip (Danielle) Pantalone; daughters, Rachel Hoover, and Julia (Mike) Scudero; grandchildren, Bryce, Brody, Brooke, Eleanor and Rosalynn Pantalone, Jackson and Caden Hoover, and Giovanna Scudero; sisters, Carrie (Gary) Shingleton, Laurie (Greg) Shoemaker, and Natalie (Scott) Cerasoli; brother, John (Kathy) Pantalone; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas and twin daughters, Marie and Elizabeth. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 11th, from 3-6PM in the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 12th, at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. The family respectfully request NO flowers. Because of the impact the Four Diamonds Fund made on their son, Nick, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to: The Four Diamonds Fund, c/o Hershey Medical Center, P.O. Box 850, Hershey, PA 17033.
