ilma "Vilma" Roman, 96, formerly of Hershey and Long Island, NY, passed away on October 31, 2024 in the Middletown Home. She was born June 3, 1928 in Glen Lyon, PA, a daughter of the late Henry and Renalda (Pennoni) Lanuti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings and her husband, Clem A. Roman.
Wilma was a Registered Nurse at the former Nanticoke Hospital in Luzerne County, PA, and after moving to New York to raise her family, she ably cared for patients for many years working the night shift at Carillon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington, NY. Wilma was an accomplished cook of Italian and Polish foods, and she ensured holidays were filled with fresh pasta and homemade desserts. She was an avid lover of board and card games, word puzzles, and opera. She loved to meet and talk to people, and her big laugh and warmth endeared her to many. She supported her children in all their endeavors and doted on her grandchildren. Despite many health challenges, she was determined to enjoy life to the fullest, and nothing made her happier than knowing that those around her were having a good time too. Wilma is survived by: daughters, Mary (Clark Venable) Roman of Hershey and Ruth Roman of Forest Hills, NY; son, Henry (Courtney Coile) Roman of Sudbury, MA; grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) and Matthew Venable and Nathaniel and Meredith Roman; as well as her sister, Norma Kule of Hershey.
