We want to wish everyone the very best for the Thanksgiving holiday this coming Thursday!
We are so very thankful for everyone in our parish! We are also so thankful for the way that you have embraced our Kindness Program! We are helping to change the world by following God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness.” Thanksgiving is a special time for sharing – sharing our food, sharing our time, sharing a hug and sharing a smile! There are still many people that are seeking shelter or food on this Thanksgiving. Consider sharing your time at a local food bank, visiting those who cannot leave their house, or those who reside in an assisted living facility. We have so much for which to be thankful. Let’s share our time this Thanksgiving with those who need it! Many members from our parish have told us that they plan to do a special family kindness act this holiday! This is so wonderful to hear! Thank you and let your hearts be filled with kindness this Thanksgiving! Blessings to you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and a week filled with kindness!

November 13 is “World Kindness Day!” This is a day to be kind and to do Acts of Kindness!
“World Kindness Day was created in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a conglomeration of kindness organizations around the world. This unofficial holiday encourages people to be kind to each other and spread happiness, joy, and peace through kindness. Kindness is considered a virtue and is valued in most societies, and religion has an important quality. Kindness is the act of being considerate, compassionate, and empathetic towards other people and living beings.” How can you celebrate “World Kindness Day?”
God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness” at work again! This time, God’s Way is touching everyone around the entire world! Blessings to you! Have a wonderful World Kindness Day on November 13 and a week filled with kindness! Hurricane Florence took a terrible toll on North and South Carolina. As of last week, 37 people had died from this hurricane. Thousands of people had to use the various shelters. We want to thank all of the volunteers who provided assistance during this time. We also want to thank those working for the utility companies. Many of these workers have been putting in 12 - 16 hours a day in an effort to restore service in the impacted communities. In times of crisis, kindness comes through in so many wonderful ways! This is God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness!” Please take a moment to offer your prayers for those that passed away, their families, and all those who have been impacted.
This week we want to focus on the Special People in Your Life! We have some questions we want you to consider as you go through your week:
Blessings to you! Have a wonderful week filled with Kindness! Summer has flown by and we hope that you enjoyed the Labor Day holiday! School has started and we wanted to kick off the school year with some suggestions on Kindness Acts. Please share these Kindness Acts with your children. It is really wonderful to see our children light up when they do an act of Kindness for another classmate. Try to have a daily “Kindness Conversation” with your children – it is a great way to bond with our children and as a family. It is up to us to promote God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness!” 10 Kindness Acts for our Children to Consider while at School:
Blessings to you! Have a wonderful week filled with Kindness! Our children watch our actions! When we demonstrate Kindness, they will learn from us that being kind and caring is the right thing to do! We all need to follow God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness!”
This week let’s make time to show our children how important and special it is to do something kind for someone. As we wind down our summer and our children get ready to go back to school, plan out a kindness activity. An excellent resource is a website entitled “pennies of time.com/5 acts of kindness to do with your kids.” Also, let’s all give our children hugs this week. Our children are so very special! May God bless you with kindness and we thank you for following God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness!” We would like to take a moment to reflect on Father Al’s words from last week’s “From the Pastor” bulletin column. He wrote:
“I always loved the traditional greeting by Maryknoll Sisters and Brothers to one another: “the Christ in me greets the Christ in you”. At Mass, you make Christ present especially in how you treat one another! Do you recognize Christ in one another? Do you welcome the stranger? Do you look with kindness on the crying baby or the cranky toddler or the latecomer? Do you participate in the singing, the responses, the common gestures? Do you discriminate in whom you offer the sign of peace? Do you “move in” the pew when Mass is crowded? Basically, do you show Christ-like love to your brothers and sisters at Mass? When we are aware of those around us, we make Christ present in a very real special way!” Father Al’s words connect directly into our Kindness Program – “God’s Way – The Road to Kindness”. Our study shows that everyone wants to be treated with kindness. The gestures that we show at church carry through to how we deal with our family, our co-workers, neighbors and the people that we do not know but meet on the street. We can make a difference with just a welcoming smile! Kindness and caring start with you! This week let’s all make an extra effort to give out a warm, kind greeting. We can make the world a better place by following God’s Way – The Road to Kindness!” Blessing to everyone! We There are times we come across a wonderful story of Kindness. This story is about how “The World Become a Better Place, One Middle School Hello at a Time!”
Two students, Belle and Abby, greet students every morning at Inglewood Middle School. They hold the door for their fellow students and they greet every student by name, giving them a high five and wishing them the best for the day! “Their smiles and kind words are for everybody: the popular and the not-so-popular; the brains and the jocks and the band kids; the bright, outgoing students; and the shy, withdrawn students too!” Belle started the program as a project coming out of her leadership class. Her teacher Sally Rusk says, “she’s choosing to do it because she thinks it will make other people happy, feel better, feel more included and feel more loved!” Within a week of starting this project, Abby, sensing something special, joined right in. Something has changed at this Middle School. “They are promoting kindness at our school.” This is how you make the world a better place! This touching story and video can be found at: https://goo.gl/NDeJc5 Making the world a better place is “God’s Way – The Road to Kindness!” Blessing to everyone! We hope that everyone is having a nice summer! We have heard from some parish members that the summer has been a challenge due to the loss of a loved one. Let’s keep those that have lost a loved one in our thoughts and prayers. If you know someone that is having some challenges, reach out to them and show them that you care! With that in mind, we want to share these words with you: Always be KIND! If you see someone falling behind, walk beside them. If someone is being ignored, find a way to include them. If someone has been knocked down, lift them up! Always remind people of their worth. Be who you needed when you were going through hard times. Just one small act of KINDNESS could mean the world to someone! Let’s all remember that this is God’s Way – “The Road to Kindness!” Blessings to you!
Summer is here and we are about to celebrate the July 4th holiday! Have you made your summer list of “things to do?” Most of us have so many things we want to accomplish over the summer months.
We have a great family suggestion - How about making a “Summer Family Kindness List!” It would be so nice to focus some of our summer on doing things for other people! On this list, you could include some special fun tasks that your kids could do for their friends, neighbors and the community. Remember it does not have to be big items – it can be as simple as “Giving popsicles to friends in the neighborhood!” For some great ideas, visit the website “Random Acts of Kindness Summer List – Thirty Handmade Days”. Enjoy the July 4th holiday and Please Remember, This Summer…. |
