In the 1983 Code of Canon Law, the Church requires each parish to organize a Parish Finance Council. Since 1972 Parish Pastoral Councils have been mandated in the Diocese of Harrisburg.
"In each there is to be a finance council to help the parish priest in the administration of the goods of the parish. It is ruled by universal law and by the norms laid down by the Diocesan Bishop, and it is compromised of members of the Faithful selected according to these norms."
