Many Ways To Give

Current tax incentives for charitable giving

• Even if you don’t itemize, charitable donations up to $300 filing single ($600 filing jointly) can be deducted from your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). These deductions still apply to those who make Qualified Charitable Distributions (see below). In addition, the CARES ACT allows direct cash contributions to qualifying charities as itemized deductions up to 100% of AGI.

• Consider the convenience and impact of a substantial contribution that is budgeted over a manageable period of time using the Online Giving App on our website.

• Gifts of appreciated stock directly to a qualified charity are not subject to capital gains and the fair market value of the stock is deductible. Gifts of Real Estate are deductible at appraised value.

 

• For those who have reached the age of 72, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from a tax-deferred retirement account (such as a traditional, or rollover IRA, 401k, etc.) can be used to meet required minimum distributions and would not be considered income for tax purposes.

 

• A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) allows for a long-term appreciated stock to be donated and receive a current year tax deduction. Individual grants are allowed to be issued over time to designated charities while simultaneously growing the asset balance for future grant recipients.
