Do you ever wonder why Catholics do what they do? As Catholics we learn our faith as children but we don’t have a full understanding of our beliefs and practices as adults. We must seek out time in our busy lives to learn and deepen our faith in order to be the person God created us to be. The answers can be explored in the Bible.

The I Thirst Prayer Community is a group of people who want to learn more about their faith, the true meaning and understanding of scriptures in the Bible in order to grow in holiness and enter into an intimate relationship with God. Peter and the first disciples received the Holy Spirit, lived in community with one another, supported one another, and went out to make Christians of all nations as commanded by Jesus. We have received the same Spirit and are also called to live in community and make disciples of all people! We are the Church.

Do You Thirst For Knowledge Of Your Faith?

We are a community that:
  • Meets on Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Prays together with scripture
  • Attends a special time of Eucharistic Adoration (Caelorum)
  • Studies the Bible with small group discussion
  • Interprets how scripture “speaks” to us
  • Provides a quarterly Healing Mass for those in need of Anointing of Sick and extra prayers
  • Provides fellowship and support for one another
  • Conducts service to the community that fits into our busy lives

The goal of this group is to have a personal relationship with God through prayer, studying scripture and fellowship with one another to enrich lives and become true disciples of Jesus Christ.
*Note: All are welcome to attend. Remember when you put God first your day is put in divine or order!

Join us this summer for a series of Scripture Studies and Praying Scriptures that contains a theme which is the basis of our faith. See Bulletin announcements for more information or call Lynn Schuck.

The I THIRST PRAYER COMMUNITY in Hershey invites you to attend their Bible Study/Praying the Scripture Summer Series.

Bible Study is reading the Bible, learning facts and what transpired at a particular time in history without personal application. Praying the Scripture is when we seek to make a personal connection of what we read, apply it to our own lives and the world around us. The scripture we read "speaks to us" thus drawing us in, and invites us to commune with God in conversation. These are two primary graces that God has given to us to develop, deepen our relationship with Him and to become more Christ like in our spiritual journey.

Join us at the Parish Center on Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 p.m. to enhance your prayer life and grow closer to God. Read the scriptures and research them prior to the meeting. Come prepared with your Bible, pen and paper and questions for discussion. The schedule is as follows:
  • July 17 - Bible Study of 1 Corinthians 1: 1-9, 18-31 - Faith Sanctified in Christ
  • July 24 - Bible Study of Luke 6: 20-26 - BEATITUDES - Be prepared to compare to Matthew 5: 3-12
  • July 31 - Bible Study of 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13 - Sharing in God's Extraordinary Love
  • August 21 - Bible Study of James 2: 14-26 - Living the Christian Life
  • August 28 - Pray the Scripture of Ephesians 1: 1-23 - You are Chosen to be Amazing
  • September 11 - Pray the Scripture of 1 Kings 19: 1-18 - Listen, God Speaks
  • September 18 - Bible Study of 2 Kings 2: 1-25 - Learning to Use God's Holy Spirit Abundantly
Guided by Fr. Modestus Ngwu, O.P. For information call Lynn 717-503-1600

*Note: Bible Study and Praying the Scripture work beautifully together. It is when one knows the Word of God from Bible Study and bridges into the area of Praying the Scripture that new spiritual heights are reached and the true gift that God has given to us is manifested and used.
