Gene A. Paioletti Sr., 91, of Palmyra, PA passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2014 with his family by his side.
Gene was born on October 10, 1922 in Hershey, PA. He was the son of the late Umberto & Annunziata (Allegrini) Paioletti. He was predeceased by his sister, Rose Mandes. Surviving is his loving wife of 36 wonderful years, Dawn. He is also survived by his children, daughter, Nancy (husband of Robert Chango) of Hershey, daughter, Donna Smith of Chesapeake Beach, MD., and a son, Gene Jr. of Hummelstown; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Sylvan Paioletti and Angelo Paioletti, both of Hershey, and several nieces and nephews. Gene graduated from Hershey High Vocational School in 1940. On October 27, 1942 he joined the Navy Seabees and served in the South Pacific and other tours in Saipan and Okinawa. On April 6, 1945 the 36th Seabees Battalion landed in Okinawa. He was discharged from the Navy Seabees on January 30, 1946. Gene also served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1948-1951 then retired from New Cumberland Army Depot in April, 1979. He was a Supply Cataloger and also worked in International Logistics. Gene and Dawn moved to California in 1979 and resided there for 20 years. Gene served as President at Imperial Golf Course in Brea, Ca. and managed an apartment complex in Newport Beach, Ca. for eight years and later he and his wife returned to Hershey. Gene was a lifetime member of the Hershey Italian Lodge where he served on the Board, as well as President for two different terms. He was also an avid golfer and assisted in forming the Central Pa. Public Golfers Association and also served as President. He was fortunate to have 11 holes in one and 1 double eagle. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #15040 and a member of the American Legion Post #1001 both of Harrisburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 21st in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Rt. 422 & Lucy Ave. Hershey. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. Viewing will be from 9:30am - 11:00am prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011. Marlin H. Eby, Sr., 87, of Hershey passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Countryside Christian Community, Annville.
Born April 1, 1927 in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Robert and Anna M. Eby. A self employed painter and paper hanger, he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a former member of the Republican Club, Lebanon. Surviving are his children Marlin H. Eby, Jr. of Lebanon, Gerald J. Eby of Lebanon and Tracy D. Eby of Tennessee; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00AM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. There will be no viewing. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heart of the Parish Fund, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033.
