Marie McGowan (May 07, 1921 - September 24, 2020) Marie G. (Mills) McGowan, 99, of Hershey, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Marie was born May 7th 1921 in Carbondale, PA. She was the daughter of Julius Palmer Mills and Elizabeth Geraldine “Knappen” Mills. She is the widow of Pennsylvania State Policeman, Richard G. McGowan, who preceded her in death in 1976. Additionally, preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Munley, and a brother, Jerome Mills. Proud matriarch, she is survived by two daughters, Sr. Eileen McGowan,DM and Maria (James) Fuddy; two sons, Michael (Michele) McGowan and Richard (Cynthia) McGowan; four grandchildren Brittany (Matthew) Dunkle, Ashlyn (Thomas) Plunket, Richard (DruAnn) McGowan and Kayleigh (Nicholas) Boro. Marie had two great grandchildren, Emilee and Brielle Dunkle. Her faith and her family were the two important priorities in her life. Marie, known as Grandma to all, was warm and welcoming to everyone. She’s known for saying in her typical Irish fashion, “Put an extra potato in the pot, you never know who’s coming over the mountain.” An extraordinary woman who took all things in life and made them a blessing. She was deeply involved in parish life at St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey. Viewing will be held Sunday September 27, 2020 from 4-6pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 88 Lucy Avenue, Hershey PA 17033. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 28, 2020 at 11am in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue Hershey, PA 17033. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery next to her beloved husband. If desired please send memorial donations to St. Joan of Arc School, 1525 Sand Hill Road Hummelstown PA 17036.

Martha C. Cassady, 99, of Hershey, passed away on September 15, 2020 in Country Meadows of Hershey. She was born May 19, 1921 in Hershey, daughter of the late Paul and Francesca (Fontana) Camacci. Martha was always so proud of the time she spent working at The Hershey Bakery right out of high school. She married L. Bradley Cassady and began raising her family. She loved spending time with them and cooking. Later, she went to work for both Hershey Foods Visitor Services as well as Hershey’s Chocolate World. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Hershey Country Club. Mrs. Cassady is survived by her four daughters, Darlene Wood, Beverly (Barry) Murray, Audrey Cassady and Kathleen (Robert) Sholley; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Gina Cassady. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Bradley Cassady; a newborn son, Lewis Bradley Cassady III and a brother Damiano Camacci. A private graveside service and interment will take place in the Hershey Cemetery. Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory of Hershey is handling the arrangements. William "Bill" Whalen, Jr., 77, of Hershey, passed away on August 18, 2020 in Kadima at Palmyra Nursing Facility. He was born October 15, 1942 in Ashland, son of the late William Sr. and Mary (Gelbuda) Whalen. Bill had worked for many years in insurance sales for the Knights of Columbus; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Hershey, where he was a Past Grand Knight and a Faithful Navigator. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church; enjoyed reading, music and dancing. Bill is survived by sons David and Jeffrey Whalen and brothers, Ron, Charles and Bob Whalen; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey.
