Sarah M. Lutz, 75, died on her birthday, September 27, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. She remained brave and iron-willed even in her final months.
Sarah was born to the late Russell and Sarah Morris of Hershey. She graduated from Hershey High School and went on to graduate from Hershey Junior College and Bloomsburg Teachers College. She was a teacher in Derry Township School District and later Palmyra Area School District until retiring in 2003. Sarah was blessed with a loving family. She married William Lutz on July 6, 1963 and raised three children. She is survived by her husband, William and her children and their families: her son, William (Valerie) Lutz, daughters, Kathleen (Jason) Leidich and Jennifer (Ryan) O'Neal, and grandchildren: Cyndi, Alex, Riley, and Liam. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, October 1st , in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Hershey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th ,from 6:00 - 8:00pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Rt. 422 & Lucy Ave., Hershey. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 5:45pm prior to the visitation. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Heart of The Parish Fund, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey PA 17033 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill PA 17011, or the Penn State Cancer Institute, P.O. Frank Carr of Hershey passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2015.
Claudette Shiber, 75, of Hershey passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015, with her family by her side.
Born October 28, 1939 in Haifa, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Abla (Srouji) Jahshan. She was the widow of George B. Shiber and had retired from the M.S. Hershey Medical Center after 26 years. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Claudette is survived by her three loving children, Mary (Ross) Yannayon of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ramzi (Ada) Shiber of Philadelphia, and Randa (Joe B) Gray of Harrisburg; her grandchildren Jamie and Brooke Yannayon, and Maxwell Shiber; and her brothers Joseph and Tony Jahshan. She will always be remembered by her eyes that smiled and her voice that would sing. She was a wonderful mother and devoted wife. Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at her church 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. A reception with the family will follow the mass from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM at Spring Hill Suites, 115 Museum Drive, Hershey (across from the Antique Car Museum). A private interment will be held at the Hummelstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 or to the Neurology ICU Unit of the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Office of Gifts and Endowments, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033. Pauline's survivors include her three daughters: JoAnn Pantages, Patricia Cline, Natalie Murphy; her six grandchildren; and her two brothers: Joseph and Louis Slakoper. You may remember Pauline from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
All are welcome to join Pauline's family for her viewing at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory and at her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
