It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear sister, aunt, and great aunt, Matilda “Tillie” Zaccagnini Stover. Tillie died peacefully at home of natural causes on April 22, 2023.
Tillie was born on March 23, 1929 in Hershey, to Lena and Philip Zaccagnini. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward E. Stover, Jr. They were residents of Hummelstown for 56 years. Tillie graduated from Hershey High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Lancaster. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years and was the first nurse hired at the Hershey Medical Center. She and her husband provided a home-away-from-home for numerous doctor and nurse interns from the Medical Center. Known for her friendly nature and beautiful smile, Tillie was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and regularly visited sick members of the parish. In addition to her husband and parents, Tillie was preceded in death by her brother, Richard and sister, Filomena Cramer. She is survived by her sister, Vera (Leo) Rudegeair; and brothers, Philip (Sandra) Zaccagnini and Louis (Sandra) Zaccagnini; numerous nieces and nephews and over 50 great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, at 11 AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10 AM. She will be interred alongside her husband, Eddie, at the Stoverdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, following the mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heart of the parish fund, c/o St. Joan of Arc Church.

Mary J. Bowker, 89, of Harrisburg, passed away on April 22, 2023 in UPMC West Shore Hospital. She was born December 7, 1933 in Harrisburg, daughter to the late Phillip and Angelina Calla.
She was a graduate of John Harris High School and was a retired secretary for the PA House of Representatives. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with family, especially during the holidays. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius; sisters, Helen, Lucy, Minnie, Rose and Angie and a brother, Phillip. Mary is survived by her son, Stephen (Cathy), one Aunt, Nancy Fulginiti, three grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11:00 am in St Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the church. There will be no viewing. Internment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a future date. Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oberlin is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. Condolences may be shared on this web page. George Clair Euker, 83, of Hummelstown, passed away on April 20, 2023 at Juniper Village in Lebanon. He was born February 11, 1940 in Harrisburg, son of the late George and Ann Louise Euker. George was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt and was a retired draftsman for the Stewart Amos Steel Co. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, as well as following the stock market. George is survived by his wife, Delores (Senteio) Euker; daughter, Susan Cusack of San Antonio, TX; son, Steven Euker of Stevensville, MT; daughter, Leslie Cosgrove of Rio Grande, NJ; son, Mark Euker of Fredricksburg, VA; and 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM at the church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to PA Pro-Life Federation, 4800 Jonestown Rd #102, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory of Hershey is handling the arrangements.
Helen Frances Wrubel Wachter, 98, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Williamstown, on December 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Michalina Wrubel.
Helen, a bright student, graduated first in her class at Williamstown High School. During World War II she worked as a clerk for the Selective Service in Harrisburg processing recruits. After the war, Helen married the love of her life, Edward Wachter. They created a beautiful family with five children to whom she devoted her substantial talents and passions. Helen was a 50+ year member of St. Joan of Arc church in Hershey, Pa where she volunteered for the St Vincent De Paul Society, holiday bazaars, plant sales and much more. Helen lovingly restored many religious statues at St. Joans including the large Blessed Mother figure and the entire Nativity set used every Christmas. The damaged figures looked like new after Helen applied her loving touch. She was a member of the Hummelstown Women’s Club, the Polish American Association, and was a former president of the Areba Club. Helen was the librarian at the Hummelstown Library for many years and volunteered at the Hershey Museum. When Helen wasn’t volunteering, she was likely painting. A gifted oil painter, she created many beautiful still lives, landscapes and portraits. Her 1960s painting of the square in Hummelstown is in the collection of the Hummelstown Historical society. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Wachter and her nine siblings. Helen is survived by her five children, Theresa Wachter, Mary Elizabeth Wachter, Michael J. Wachter, Marian Wachter, and Edward Wachter Jr. Her grandchildren include Noah Katz, Lily Katz and Mitzi Adler-Wachter. Services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023. A viewing begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM, both at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 305 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. Helen will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joan of Arc’s Heart of the Parish Fund at the address above or online at https://giving.parishsoft.com/App/Giving/PS-1376. |
