Jean A. Gero Moore, 90, of Sebring, Fl, and formerly of Hummelstown, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Born in Madison, NJ, on August 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Granese Gero. Jean retired after 40 years as a service representative for the Public Service Electric & Gas Company in Newark, NJ. Jean was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Sebring Fl. A good-hearted and hard-working woman, Jean’s greatest joy was her family, lifelong friends, and helping those in need. In addition to her parents and brothers, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Conan Moore. Jean will be forever loved and remembered by her devoted family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jean on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 11:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave, Hershey with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday in the church from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main Street, Hummelstown, is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New England Organ Bank, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.

William P. Mattern, Jr., born on August 20, 1925, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away in his 97th year on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late William and Anna Catherine Mattern. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 72 years, and his children, Kathleen (Charles) Engle of Mount Joy, Denise (Steven) Haun of Landisville, Marianne (Thomas) Lawruk of Southport, NC, Carole (Bruce) Andrews of Harrisburg, and William (Bonny) Mattern of Palmyra. He was loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Florence (Theodore) Freedman of Lititz. William was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Francis, his sisters, Mary, Catherine, and Rosemarie, as well as a great-grandson, Alessio Falci. He graduated from East Lampeter High School and Franklin and Marshall College. He served in the Navy as an aerial photographer during World War II, stationed in Guam and later in Tokyo, Japan. In his professional life, he was an accountant, having worked in various positions within the Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company, including the Hershey Lumber Company and Hersheypark and Arena. After 30 years with the organization, he retired in 1989. Bill had many talents and interests, including dabbling in darkroom photography, assembling models and dollhouses, constructing model railroads, doing home remodeling projects, woodworking furniture and toys, grilling at family cookouts, playing with his grandchildren, and slipping Milkbone treats to dogs. He was an active member of the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company and served as Treasurer for many years. In retirement, he looked forward to his daily morning coffee at the firehouse with friends. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, August 23rd at St. Joan of Arc Church, (where he was a longtime member), 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA, 17033. The family will begin receiving guests at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers send contributions to “The Heart of the Parish Fund” , c/o St. Joan of Arc Church. Patricia A. Jones, 56, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away on August 14, 2022 at her home in York Haven surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on October 30, 1965, a daughter of the late Joseph and Maryann (Agresto) O'Connell. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank O'Connell. Patti was employed at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center where she work in environmental health. Prior to working at the hospital, she worked for The Hershey Company in the main factory and was also a beautician. Patti truly enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved chatting with friends and family, traveling and best of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother and friend, always thinking of others first. She asked for little but gave so very much. Surviving are her daughters, Shanitta Gutt and husband Jon of York, Cheyenne Jones and Kendrell Ervin of Harrisburg; Grandchildren Axel Gutt & Kloe Ervin; Fiance, Fabian West of York Haven; three brothers, Joseph P. (Silvia) O'Connell of Palmyra, John K. (Karen) O'Connell of Mt. Joy and Michael S. (Sandie) O'Connell of Hershey; sister, Nancy Keller of Hummelstown; sister in law, Lisa O'Connell of Harrisburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:30 am - 11:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following on Friday, August 19th in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. Burial will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 2951 Whiteford Road, Suite 304, York, PA 17402. Share condolences at www.hooverfuneralhome.com. Helen Jo Yancofsky Fazio, 93, of Hummelstown, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Spring Creek Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Born in Shenandoah on November 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica Yeckabosky Yancofsky. Helen was a graduate 1946 graduate of J.W. Cooper High School. She worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in a variety of positions. She retired in 1985 from the Pennsylvania State Police as a Clerical Supervisor 2, and before that worked for the PSP as a Statistical Assistant. Helen also worked for the Governor’s Justice Commission where she edited the monthly Uniform Crime Reports, the Department of Health, and as co-owner of Fazio’s Sporting Goods. After retirement, Helen worked part-time for the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, the Hershey Country Club as a hostess, and Country Meadows of Hershey as a supervisor in the Keller Dining Room. Helen was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic church, and a social member of the Hershey Italian Lodge. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Fazio, on June 2, 1978; five sisters, Antoinette Honushefsky, Bertha Evanowsky, Anna Yancofsky, Mary Woolley, and Theresa Drahos. She is survived by her nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave, Hershey with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski. A viewing will be held Wednesday in the church from 10:00am until 11:00am. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the services.
