Mary A. Bryan, 95, of Hershey, passed away on June 15, 2018 in the Gardens at Campbelltown.
She was born December 10, 1922 in Dudley, PA, daughter of the late Emidio and Catherine (Guyer) Pizzingrilli. Mrs. Bryan retired from Reese's Candy Co. and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church and their Areba Club. Mary is survived by: grandson, Douglas Gibson and his wife Noemi; great granddaughters Kelsey and Kendra; sister, Joan Godshall; and son-in-law, Lloyd Lingle; several nephews, a niece and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: husband, Amber Bryan; son, John P. Bryan; daughter, Constance M. Lingle; grandson, Jeffrey Gibson; sister, Theresa B. Pizzingrilli; and brothers, Francis & Jack Pizzingrilli. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2PM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 88 Lucy Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 1PM. Inurnment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., of Hershey, is handling the arrangements. Anthony A. Ferrar, 93, of Hershey, died Monday June 11, 2018. He was born July 17, 1924 in Harrisburg, son of the late Minnie (Bria) and Albert Ferrar.
Anthony graduated from John Harris High School Class of 1942 and retired from the Penna Bureau of Aviation, at Harrisburg International Airport. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey. Mr. Ferrar was both a WWII and Korea War Veteran. He served as an Army Air Corps pilot during WWII and as a US Air Force pilot and multi-engine pilot during the Korean War earning several awards; including two Air Medals. He married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Swartz, and they were together for 65 years until her death in 2010….. And what a beautiful love story they had! He is survived by his granddaughter Kelly Ferrar Palumbo and her 3 children, Jillian, Michael and Brooklyn; granddaughter, Cris Ferrar Messler and her children Peter, Sam and Ava. He was preceded in death by his son Terry in 1999. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 18th, at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10:30AM in the church. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg. She was born October 2, 1929 in Hershey, daughter of the late Sebastian and Emeila (DeCaroli) Pichini. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood (Woody) Landis and her second husband Francis Coyle; sister Angelina DeCaroli, and brothers, Pat DeCaroli, Mario Pichini, Ralph Pichini, Maggio Pichini and Marino Pichini. Millie is survived by her son, Charles (Sandy) Landis of Austin, TX, daughters, Pamela (Ben) Alger of Hershey and Patricia (Jesse) Landis of Mount Joy and five grandchildren Jason (Katie) Landis of Carlisle, Kristin (Ryan) Harvey of Austin, TX, Jennifer Alger of Mount Joy, Megan Landis of Downingtown, Jonathan Alger of Palmyra and one great-grandchild, Erika Landis of Carlisle. Millie graduated from Hershey High School and continued her education at Hershey Junior College. Millie later graduated with a Masters in Humanities from Penn State Harrisburg where she worked and retired as Registrar in 1994. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was involved in many church activities including the Legion of Mary and was a former cub scout and girl scout leader. She was also active in the Derry Township Historical Society, the Hershey Library and a contributor to the Hershey Museum, and later the Hershey Story. She wrote historical articles for several local papers, gave presentations about Milton Hershey, co‑authored books, did an extensive history of Italian immigrants and Swatara Station. She received many awards from various organizations for her outstanding volunteer work. During her retirement she enjoyed knitting, baking, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 from 6:00 pm ‑ 8:00 pm, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 5:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:30am in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joan of Arc School, 329 West Areba Avenue, Hershey PA 17033 or to the Friends of the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Avenue, Hershey PA 17033. Family always came first with Phyllis. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she especially loved her great-grandchildren. Phyllis was an accomplished cook and baker. Her family craved her Sunday dinners, which usually featured three types of homemade pasta, meatballs and sauce. She led a simple, God-fearing, family-loving life.
Phyllis was very active in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Over the years she was a Girl Scout leader, kindergarten teacher and volunteer in the church office. She was active in the Areba Club and supported many other activities with her time and efforts. Her favorite activity in her later years was working at the church's annual flea market in the jewelry department. Phyllis is survived by her son Greg (Linda), granddaughters Erin (Jacob) Doan, Beth (Daniel) Shaughnessy, great-grandchildren Macy and Liam Shaughnessy and Luke Doan and her sister Carol(ine) Creech. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Gabriel, her parents, Nicoletta (Riggio) and Aldorino DiDomenico and her brother Nick DiDomenico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, May 31st in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Hershey Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to the Heart of the Parish Fund, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, #100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
