Louis Mandes (1923 - 2017)

Louis D. Mandes, 94, of Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster County and formerly of Hershey, passed away on November 25, 2017 in the Lancaster General Hospital .  He was born May 4, 1923 in Philadelphia , a son of the late Luigi and Amalia Savastio Mandes.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and retired from Derry Township School District after 35 years as an English/ French/Spanish teacher.

Mr. Mandes was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie Davis Mandes.  He is survived by: son, David D. (Sally) Mandes of Hatboro, PA; daughter, Susan Mandes (Stan) Simpler of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Amy Simpler, Kyle Mandes and Adriene Darby; great grandchildren, Andrew J. Simpler and Matix Darby.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Theodore and Hugo Mandes.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30th from 9:00am – 10:00am, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue in Hershey.  Interment will be next to his wife in Crown Crest Memorial Park , Clearfield , PA.

Alma Delia (1938 - 2017)

Alma Walberga Delia, 79, of Hershey, passed away on Saturday November 25, 2017 at the Gardens at Campbelltown. She was born April 26, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Ernst and Adelgunda (Schroeder) Holst.

She had been employed at the New York Telephone Company and the Hershey Medical Center and eventually retired as a receptionist from the PA Employee Benefit Retirement Trust Fund.

Alma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. In June of 1958 she married her husband, Joseph R. Delia and shared 59 years of wonderful friendship and marriage. Also surviving are her daughter, Karen (Gregorio) Delia‑Mendoza of Ramona, CA and son, Richard S. (Rebecca) Delia of Hershey; grandsons, Justice H. Mendoza and Enzo C. Delia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday December 1st from 9:00‑10:00am in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Meghan Johnson (1998 - 2017)

Meghan Marie Johnson, 18, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born on November 26, 1998, Meghan was the sister and best friend of Rachael C. Johnson of Hummelstown, the daughter of Stephanie M. Pucak Johnson and Ken Hollingsworth of Hummelstown, and the daughter of Scott A. Johnson of Elizabethtown.

Meghan is survived by her maternal grandmother, Joanne C. Pucak, widow of the late Dr. George J. Pucak, of Chapel Hill, NC, paternal grandparents, Marlin C. and Judy A. Johnson of McVeytown, PA, aunt and uncle, Kathy and Sam MacDonald, and cousins, Tori (20), Colin (17), and Makenzie (6) all of Holly Springs, NC, a large extended family and many dear friends.
Meghan graduate from Lower Dauphin High School in June of this year. She excelled academically, maintaining membership in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. Meghan held the position of President in several on campus clubs including Student Council, Volunteen, Drama Club, and the Women’s Select Choir. She was a mentor through Club Ophelia and Camp Ophelia and volunteered her extra time to working with children at the community library. Meghan was on the 2016 LDHS Homecoming Court and a contestant in the 2016 Miss Hummelstown pageant.
Meghan was an amazing vocalist who was active not only in high school musicals and theatre productions, but also performed in many community theatre productions. She had recently been nominated for an Apollo Award for her outstanding theatrical performance as Martha Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. Meghan was a soloist for many high school and community events and loved everything about the theatre, often traveling to New York City to attend Broadway Shows.
Passionate about cancer awareness and research, Meghan was a captain of the LDHS Mini-Thon and an advocate for the Four Diamonds Fund, even before being diagnosed herself. She volunteered to share her story at various area schools and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Some of her favorite pastimes included being with her little sister Rachael, shopping, writing music, buying shoes, listening to Taylor Swift, watching The Golden Girls, and spending time with her many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm. The service will be held at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski and The Rev. Fr. Modestus Ngwu as celebrants. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends beginning at 11:00 am.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you might consider a donation to the Meghan M. Johnson Scholarship Fund that will provide scholarships to students at Lower Dauphin High School in her memory. Donations May be made payable to the Meghan M. Gina Pasquini (1932 - 2017)

Gina J. (Ceresini) Pasquini, 85, of Hershey, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Hershey Medical Center.  Born Tuesday, February 2, 1932 in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria Francesca (Plebani) Ceresini.  She was married to the late Algino E. Pasquini.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki A. Caloiero, wife of Joseph and a son, Vincent G. Pasquini, husband of Carole, both of Hershey.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Joseph, Vincent Gino, John-Paul, Frances, Vincent Gabriel and Nicholas; two great granddaughters, Lilia and Evie Rose as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rose Moyer and two brothers, Paul and Antonio Ceresini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA  17033 with Father Modestus Ngwu, O.P., as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in the Hershey Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held following the Mass on Friday.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA  17078, 717-838-9211.

Michael Hugendubler (1951 - 2017)

After a brief battle with cancer, Michael Lynn Hugendubler, affectionately known as “Huggie,” died on November 10, 2017 in Hershey PA at the age of 66. Michael was born May 19, 1951 in Hershey to Jack Hugendubler and the late Mary Green Hugendubler. 

He is survived by his four children, Wade Hugendubler, Heather Simonetti, Heide Grove, and Chad Hugendubler and 9 grandchildren; his father Jack Hugendubler; siblings, Mary Biffel, William Hugendubler, Kathleen Thomas, John Hugendubler, Theresa Winfindale, David Hugendubler, Daniel Hugendubler, and Lisa Russek.

Huggie grew up in a large loving family.  He worked at the H.B. Reese Candy Company since 1969.  Huggie loved to read and had a thirst for knowledge.  His travels took him all over, including Europe. He had many adventures exploring the Chesapeake on his boat.  Huggie was a beloved friend and resident with the Kuhn Family.

Visitation will be Friday November 17th from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory in Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00pm in St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue in Hershey.  Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Harrisburg, close to his grandmother, Ann Green, and his mother, Mary Hugendubler.  
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Grane Hospice, 4 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 201, Lemoyne PA 17043.

John Hines (1925 - 2017)

John H. Hines, 92, of Hershey, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2017. He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late John and Ann (Hickey) Hines.

He graduated from St Joseph's Prep School in Philadelphia. After U.S. Naval service in WWII; he graduated from University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School of Business and Temple Law School. He practiced law in Philadelphia before joining Dauphin Management Corporation in Harrisburg. He was a distinguished member of the Philadelphia Bar Association for 66 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marie "Mitzi" (nee-Walters) Hines; 3 sons, John III, (Nancy), Kenneth, (Catherine), and Stephen, (Laurie); daughters Joanne Brody, (Melvin), Suzanne Ney, (Marshall) and Cathleen Kaiser, (Gregory); 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

A requiem mass will be celebrated by Father Al Sceski on Friday, November 10th, at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave. in Hershey. The family will receive guests prior to the mass from 9 – 10:30AM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, 88 Lucy Ave. in Hershey. Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to: "Heart of the Parish Fund", c/o St. Joan of Arc, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA.
