Bolek Dominick Yascavage, 85 , of Hummelstown, PA passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017. Dom was born in 1932, Shamokin, PA. He graduated from Coal Township High School in 1950. His parents were Nicholas and Victoria (Dansavage) Yascavage. Dom married his sweetheart, Connie Shalongo in 1958.
As an accomplished US Army sergeant he served in the Korean War. Dom began his career at the Enola Railroad Yards and later worked at the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. In 1970, along with his brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Annie, and his wife Connie, he opened Dom "N" Nicks Tavern, now known as Chicks Tavern of Hummelstown. He went on to be the chef, manager and quarter master of the former Hummelstown VFW Post 1687. Dom worked as a cook at Guido McNeal's, Middletown, and the former Ice House in Palmyra. Most recently he went on to run the kitchens of the Shellsville VFW Post 9639 and Penbrook VFW 1718, were he was also a life member. Also being a life member of the Hummelstown American Legion 265, and of the East End Fire Company of his hometown of Shamokin, and served as the last Dauphin County Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed polka music and never missed the Lawrence Welk Show. Dominick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie and four brothers, Albert, Jack, Nicholas and Daniel Yascavage. He leaves three sons, David and his wife, Cindy (Kauffman) of Annville, and their two children, Kristen of Annville, Adam and his fiance, Alexa of Raleigh, NC, Ronald of Hummelstown, and Dominick and his wife, Pamela (Pellegrini) of Hershey. Dom will be remembered as a well respected leader, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and most of all for his famous baked chicken and polish cooking. He was famous for his generous portions and was well known for always giving back to the community. Friends may call on the family, January 5, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for fellowship. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. All are welcome. Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. Irene A. Seesholtz, 92, of Hummelstown, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Johnstown on February 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Ann Bellak Mlinarchik. Irene retired as a receptionist for the Hershey Convention Center where she worked for over 15 years. She was a 1943 graduate of Westmont Upper Yoder High School. After graduation, Irene moved to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI as a fingerprint analyst, even meeting J. Edgar Hoover while she was there. Irene was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. The most important thing to Irene was family gatherings and being surrounded by her loved ones. She was thrilled when asked to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also enjoyed cooking and baking. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Seesholtz; and seven siblings, John, Anne, Elizabeth, Catherine, Andrew, Mary Jane, and William. Irene is survived by three sons, John G. Seesholtz, Jr. (Loan Trinh), Tim W. Seesholtz (Linda Wikel), and David R. Seesholtz (Jenna); three daughters, Mary Ellen Seesholtz (Rebecca), Cindy A. Seesholtz, and Joan; a sister, Margaret L. “Peggy” Mills; six grandchildren, Brady Seesholtz, Laura Traina (Michael), David C. Seesholtz, Andy Good, Jennifer M. Seesholtz, and Jillian; and two great granddaughters, Brooke and Carly Traina. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 11:30 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. Friends will be received Wednesday for the visitation in the church from 11:00 AM until time of the service. An additional memorial service and inurnment will be held in Johnstown at a later date. Hopstetter, 87, of Harrisburg and formerly of Palmyra and Lebanon passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 peacefully surrounded by her family.
Born May 20, 1930 in Hegins, she was a daughter of the late Allen J. and Sadie A. (Stutzman) Artz and the widow of Robert G. Hopstetter to whom she was married for 43 years prior to his death in July 1993. Retired from Everite Knitting Mills, Lebanon, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was a gifted seamstress who took pride in making three wedding gowns for family members, quilts, floppy-eared cross stitch bunnies, hand embroidered pillow cases and one-of-a-kind outfits for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing pinochle. Surviving are her children George A., husband of Catherine Hopstetter of Conestoga, Janett L., wife of Dennis Peiffer of Palmyra, and Robert A. Hopstetter, fiancé to Sharon Blake of Harrisburg; brother Allen, husband of Kay Artz of Cressona; grandchildren Amy Epps, Jennifer Brandt, Heath Hopstetter, Katie Foreman, Tara Malpica and Christopher Hopstetter; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey with interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewings 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday and 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday both at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra. She was born in Abington, PA to the late Anna (Narcisi) and Joseph Cannon. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Harry Robert Sinex; her daughter, Tamarah Lynn Iwan (Bob); her siblings, Dawn McGhee, Kathy Yobs (Bob) and Shawn Cannon (Christine); and several nieces and nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her brother in law, James McGhee, III.
Debbie grew up north of Philadelphia in Roslyn, and later in Warminster Pennsylvania. Debbie met Rob while attending William Tennent High School in a candle factory, married him in 1978, and lived as a military wife in Dover, Delaware, Rantoul, Illinois and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida over a period of 8 years. Debbie and Rob returned to Warminster/Warrington, Pennsylvania in 1983 and then lived happily in Hummelstown/Hershey Pennsylvania for 28 years. In her professional life, Debbie worked at Asplundh, Prudential Insurance, American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) in Elizabethtown as the Convention Manager, and then 12 years as the rooms inventory manager for the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel. Debbie made life-long friends that she cherished at AAMP and the Sheraton who have proven to be the best and most honorable friends anyone could ask for. Debbie's childhood friend, Sherri Thatcher has been a soul mate since Debbie and Sherri were children and they stayed in touch through all of her years and especially since the illness that eventually took her. Debbie's daughter Tammy, has been the light of her life, her purpose for being here, for 32 wonderful years. Tammy learned how to be caring, kind and loving from the most beautiful person in the world. Debbie loved life, loved her family and friends, and thanked God for every breath given to her. For that, God gave her his grace and his mercy all of her life. Debbie believed she will be living with angels in heaven and will be patiently waiting for him to call the rest of us home to be with her again. Debbie's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Dec. 19, 2017 from 10 to 11:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. Lazur, 78, of Hershey, and formerly of Hometown, passed away Sunday in Hershey.
Born in Still Creek, he was a son of the late John G. and Sophie M. Wronsky Lazur. He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, Barnesville. John was a graduate of Marian High School, Class of 1957, and the University of North Carolina, Class of 1966. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Prior to retiring, he was the proprietor of John J. Lazur, CPA, accounting offices of Tamaqua. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his son, Christopher R. Lazur, and brother, Joseph J. Lazur. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Susan M. Shickora Lazur; son, John M. Lazur and wife, Mary, Hometown; daughters, Susan T. Sinton and husband, Kevin, Lake Hauto, Cynthia Herr and husband, Eric, New Hope, Lisa Frederick and husband, David, New Ringgold, Ranee Reilly and husband, Scott, Hershey, and Anjuanita Lazur, Hershey; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Lazur and wife, Louise, Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Aleta Phillips, Maryland; nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Damiano Funeral Home, Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Richard R.C. Church, Barnesville. The Rev. Joseph T. Whalen will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Klimovsky, 85, of Lebanon, PA passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou (Frazier) Klimovsky. Born in Lebanon, PA on July 13, 1932, Edward was a son of the late John and Julia Klimovsky.
Edward was an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force. He was then employed as an airplane mechanic at the old Myerstown Airport, Hershey Airport, and Harrisburg Airport. He was also employed at Penn National Race Course in the admission department. After retiring he was employed by Hershey Chocolate World, Royers Flower Shop, and Giant Foods. Edward was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, Hershey, a former member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church, Lebanon and a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School. He enjoyed betting the horses, watching sci-fi movies, scratching lottery tickets, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. Surviving are his six children, Gregory Klimovsky, Robert Klimovsky, Julieann Newill, Barbara Koropchak, Paula Tomassini, and Andrea Cray; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Benedict's Church, 1300 Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
