Paula Ann Wilusz, 44, of the Merakey/Allegheny Valley School, Hummelstown, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital.
Born in Pocono Lake on December 9, 1976, Paula was the daughter of Helen Sommar Wilusz of Pocono Lake, and the late Daniel J. Wilusz. Paula was one of the sweetest ladies. She enjoyed going for walks outside, chocolate, pizza, blankets, bells/shakers, bubble baths and listening to music. Paula loved visits from her mom and cuddling on the couch with her. She will be missed terribly by her family and the staff at Merakey/AVS. In addition to her mother, Paula is survived by a brother, Daniel J. Wilusz husband of Amy Mohlenhoff Wilusz of Lehighton; and two nephews and a niece, Luke, Zachary and Abby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00 PM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Joshua R. Weaver as celebrant. Friends are invited to the viewing Thursday in the church from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Interment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on September 8, 2021 at 11:30am. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. Born in Norristown, PA, on July 14, 1965, he was the son of Doris Marie Vernacchio Brady of Hummelstown and the late William Anthony Brady. Mark attended John I. Leonard High School in Lake Worth, FL. He attended the University of Florida and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. He earned his Master’s in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University. He was a pioneer in the field of GIS, beginning while working at the South Florida Water Management District. He was currently the GIS Coordinator at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA., laying the path for the GIS industry, Mark was well-known and respected in his field, attending and participating in many national conferences. Mark attended St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey, with his mother. His love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing, shooting his guns and bows led him to his membership at the Harrisburg Hunters & Anglers Assoc. More than anything, Mark loved his daughter, and his passion was his career and the challenges it brought him. In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by a daughter, Morgan Ann Brady fiancée of Alex Rodriguez of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Michele A. Daley of Minnesota; his nephew and nieces, Sean Casey, Kristin Daley and Taylor Daley; great nephew and niece, Gavin McClure and Zoey Casey; and many other family members and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA, with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski as celebrant. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday in the church from 10 AM until time of the services. Butch, Jr., 84,of Annville, and formerly of Hershey, passed away on August 9, 2021 at home. He was born November 5, 1936 in Hershey, a son of the late Joseph and Effie (Croci) Butch. He was a graduate of Hershey High School, served in the U.S. Navy and attended the former Hershey Junior College. He retired as a computer system designer from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. Joe was an avid golfer, played semi-pro football and had enjoyed racquetball and playing in softball and basketball leagues.Memberships include the Palmyra Sportsman's Association, Royal Oak's Golf Club and the Hershey Italian Lodge. Surviving is his wife, Betty (Dove) Butch; daughter, Stephanie (Tom) Johnson; sons, Joe, Andy and Tony (Pam) Butch; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and his sister, Mary J. Butch. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Jim Butch. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 16th from 9:30am - 10:30am, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00am in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment with honors will be in the Hershey Cemetery. ![]() Patricia Ann “Pat” (Lavelle) Nestico, passed away on Monday, August 9th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Centralia on March 18, 1935 to the late Michael and Helen (Dooley) Lavelle. Pat graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School and went on to work at the state. In 1957, she married the late Joseph F. Nestico. They were married for 48 wonderful years until his death in 2005. Pat was a long-time employee of Hershey’s Chocolate World, having worked there for 20 years, where she made life-long friends and memories. She was also a long-time member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Above all, Pat’s biggest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Mammam” or “Mimi” by her grandchildren, Pat will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor, and love of family. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by her son, Anthony J. Nestico, and her brothers Mick and George Lavelle. She is survived by four daughters Ann Marie (David) Drobnock, Theresa (John) Polly, Kathleen (Ronald) Giovanniello and Patricia (Robert) Kain, her daughter in law Deborah (Bodenhorn) Nestico; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Vivian) and Joseph (Barbara) Lavelle and her sister in law, Marlene Lavelle and many nieces and nephews. To the staff at Columbia Cottage and Hospice for All Seasons, our family is forever grateful for the love, care and compassion shown to our Mom and Grandmother. Send condolences at www.hooverfuneralhome.com ![]() Maryann (Disken) Briotte, of Derry Township, formerly of Rockville Centre, New York and Houston, Texas passed away on July 30, 2021 in the Hershey Medical Center A retired elementary school teacher, Maryann’s love of life did not end with her death. She passed away on July 20, 2021 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. Prior to this, Maryann was a 4-time survivor of cancer. Surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Maryann completed her Bachelor’s degree in Education at the University of New York Cortland and her Master’s degree in Instructional Technology at the University of Houston. She worked as an elementary school teacher for 30 years. Thirteen years with Alief Independent School District in Texas, where she was awarded the Teacher of the Year in 1990, and seventeen years in Derry Township School District. Her pride was in her school and students and she shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over the years. The simplest pleasure in life brought great joy to Maryann. She loved spending time with her loving husband, sons and dog Toby. She loved crafting, scrapbooking, remodeling, gardening and traveling with her beloved family. She had an uncanny agility to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She was born July 22, 1960 in Brooklyn, NY. and was predeceased by her father, Walter Disken and mother, Margaret (Kelly) Disken-Healion. Maryann is survived by; husband of 37 years, Stephen James Briotte; son, Christopher Stephen (Elizabeth) Briotte and Patrick Francis Briotte; and sister, Ellen Knepper and her dog Toby. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 8th from 2-4PM in the Hoover Funeral Home, 88 Lucy Ave. Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her church, St. Joan of Arc, 359 W. Areba Ave in Hershey on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 11AM. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery.
