Alma R. Hopstetter, 87, of Harrisburg and formerly of Palmyra and Lebanon passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 peacefully surrounded by her family.
Born May 20, 1930 in Hegins, she was a daughter of the late Allen J. and Sadie A. (Stutzman) Artz and the widow of Robert G. Hopstetter to whom she was married for 43 years prior to his death in July 1993. Retired from Everite Knitting Mills, Lebanon, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was a gifted seamstress who took pride in making three wedding gowns for family members, quilts, floppy-eared cross stitch bunnies, hand embroidered pillow cases and one-of-a-kind outfits for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing pinochle. Surviving are her children George A., husband of Catherine Hopstetter of Conestoga, Janett L., wife of Dennis Peiffer of Palmyra, and Robert A. Hopstetter, fiancé to Sharon Blake of Harrisburg; brother Allen, husband of Kay Artz of Cressona; grandchildren Amy Epps, Jennifer Brandt, Heath Hopstetter, Katie Foreman, Tara Malpica and Christopher Hopstetter; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey with interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewings 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday and 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday both at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joan of Arc Outdoor Prayer and Reflection Area Beautification Fund, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033.
