Alvesta (Vae) Tancredi, a life-long resident of Hershey, passed away on April 4, 2020, at the age of 105 years.
Born July 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Iroldo and Latina (Loffreda) Pera. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel N. Tancredi and siblings, Nancy Bruscia and Albert Pera. Alvesta was very active most of her life. She had a wide range of friends from all ages, and very much enjoyed spending time with them, which would frequently include traveling, dinners, musical events and movies. During her early adult years she designed and sewed most of her clothes. She loved the art of designing dresses and suits. As she got older she transformed this passion into painting pictures of people, scenes and flowers with watercolors and oil. In addition, she enjoyed cooking and baking—people loved her biscotti!!—as well as participating in exercise classes, dancing, and volunteering at the Hershey Medical Center. Alvesta is survived by sons Robert and Laurence Tancredi; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Private internment took place at the Hershey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Heart of the Parish Fund, c/o St. Joan of Arch Church, 139 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033 Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory of Hershey is handling the arrangements. Send condolences via the online guest book at www.hooverfuneralhome.com
