Andrew J. Gaydos, Sr. 83, of Hershey, formerly of the Freeland area, passed away on January 13, 2016 in his home. He was born July 6, 1932 in Eckley, PA, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Falatko) Gaydos.
Andrew was a graduate of Penn State University; a Korean War Army veteran; and former employee of the Olmsted Air Force Base and the New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey and the Hershey Italian Lodge. Andrew is survived by; his wife, Helen T. (Gmiter) Gaydos of Hershey; three sons, Mark (Barbara) Gaydos of Port Deposit, MD, Andrew J. Gaydos, Jr. of Albany, GA, and David (Helene) Gaydos of Annville; four grandchildren Devon, George, Joseph, and Frank; brother, Joseph Gaydos of Drums, PA; and sister, Barbara Alhum of Allentown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Albert Gaydos. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016, 9:30 am - 10:30 am, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, of Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 am in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to St. Joan of Arc Heart of the Parish Fund, 359 W. Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 or Hospice of Central PA. 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
