Betty Ann Slabonik, age 98, of Hershey, passed away on November 24, 2021 in the Hershey Medical Center. Born on March 15, 1923 in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Eckard) Rakosky. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Slabonik in 1982; as well as three brothers, Harry, Joseph, Jr. and Frederick Rakosky; and sister, Louise Rakosky Bucci. Betty is survived by her daughters, Susan (Bill) Saye of Hummelstown, JoEllen (David) Trostle of Quentin, and Anne Hench of Palmyra; a sister, Joan Rakosky Fegely of New Holland; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson of Hershey, Andrew Trostle of Annapolis, MD, Laura Trostle of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Derek Hench of Hershey, Stefanie Hench of Harrisburg, and Alex Hench of Pittsburgh, great-grandchildren, Adiley Hench & Hayden Trostle. Betty was a graduate of Hershey High School and Hershey Junior College. After graduation, she worked at Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown, during World War II. Betty's greatest love was her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Betty was a lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Church. The family respectfully request memorial contributions be made to "Heart of the Parish Fund" c/o the church, in lieu of flowers. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff at Country Meadows of Hershey for their care and support during her time there. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 10:30 AM, in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory of Hershey is handling the arrangements.
