Darlene Vadella Bouch, 71, of Hummelstown, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Patterson, NJ, on April 2, 1943, she was the daughter of Patrick Vadella of Carbondale and the late Arlene Swegel Vadella. Darlene was a co-owner, with her husband Jim, of Keystone Artificial Limb & Orthopedics, Harrisburg. She was also previously a secretary for the PA Dept. of Justice, a teller at Fulton Bank, Hummelstown, and a clerk at the Hummelstown 7-11. Darlene was a 1961 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey, and was on the Council of Catholic Women of St. Joan of Arc. Darlene enjoyed sewing and knitting, and was a member of several sewing clubs including the Hershey Library Quilters Club, Grace Bible Church Quilting Club, and the St. Joan of Arc Prayer Shawl Ministry. Even more than she enjoyed her sewing, Darlene loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. Darlene is survived by her father; her loving husband of 48 years, James Edward Bouch, whom she married on October 29, 1966; two daughters, Mary Beth Moser and Katherine A. Buohl both of Middletown, MD; a son, James Joseph Bouch husband of Christine of Hummelstown; eleven brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren. In addition to her mother, Darlene was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Kevin Vadella. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Brian J. Wayne as celebrant. Friends will be received for the viewings Monday, May 5, 2014, from 4 to 7 PM, and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. A private family interment will be held in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Carbondale. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorial contributions made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
