Gino J. Schiavoni, 94, of Hershey, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in his home. Born June 2, 1922 in Hershey, he was a son of the late Giosue and Agnese (Camacci) Schiavoni.
Gino was a World War II Army Veteran having been a tank driver in the 9th Armored Division where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired employee of Hershey Foods, member of St. Joan of Arc Church and Hershey VFW Post #3502, where he enjoyed coffee and gossip with his buddies every morning. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Lee English and husband, Joseph of Hershey; sisters, Adeline Lalli and Sylvia Luttrell both of Hershey; grandchildren, Christopher Schiavoni, Erin (English) Palermo, Jordan English and Jonathan English; great-granddaughter, Gianna Palermo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Tacca) Schiavoni; son, Joseph Schiavoni; brothers, Mario, Victor and Evo Schiavoni. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18th at 11:00AM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Hershey. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until time of service. Interment with military honors will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave. Hershey, PA 17033.
