John J. Lazur, 78, of Hershey, and formerly of Hometown, passed away Sunday in Hershey.
Born in Still Creek, he was a son of the late John G. and Sophie M. Wronsky Lazur. He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, Barnesville. John was a graduate of Marian High School, Class of 1957, and the University of North Carolina, Class of 1966. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Prior to retiring, he was the proprietor of John J. Lazur, CPA, accounting offices of Tamaqua. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his son, Christopher R. Lazur, and brother, Joseph J. Lazur. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Susan M. Shickora Lazur; son, John M. Lazur and wife, Mary, Hometown; daughters, Susan T. Sinton and husband, Kevin, Lake Hauto, Cynthia Herr and husband, Eric, New Hope, Lisa Frederick and husband, David, New Ringgold, Ranee Reilly and husband, Scott, Hershey, and Anjuanita Lazur, Hershey; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Lazur and wife, Louise, Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Aleta Phillips, Maryland; nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Damiano Funeral Home, Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Richard R.C. Church, Barnesville. The Rev. Joseph T. Whalen will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
