John James Beatty, 72, of West Hanover Twp., passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon.
A devoted father, grandfather, husband and son, John was born October 5, 1942 in New York, NY, the son of the late James and Eleanor (Garrett) Beatty. John earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from St. John's University in New York and retired after an accomplished teaching career at Three Village Central School District in Stony Brook, NY. He was an avid traveler and a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Committed to serving others, John volunteered for AmeriCorp VISTA three separate times. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Jean (Wolf) Beatty; sons, Christian Beatty and his wife Maile, and Aron Beatty and his wife Diana; daughter, Jeanine Beatty-Chadha and her husband Devesh; four grandchildren, Kaia, Lena, Samuel and Leo Beatty. A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 5:45 pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery.
