Josephine C. Malaro, 94, of Hershey, passed away surrounded by her three children on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg.
She was born March 15, 1920 in Dudley, PA, a daughter of the late Serafino and Carolina (Vieli) Castelli. She moved to Hershey when she was 2 years old. Mrs. Malaro graduated from Hershey High School in 1939. She was a retired employee of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company and also had been employed as a tour guide for Hershey Foods. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, the Areba Club and the Hershey Italian Lodge. Surviving are her sons, Stephen A. (Debra A.) Malaro of Hummelstown, and John J. (Antonia M.) Malaro of Harrisburg; a daughter, Josette C. (Ralph) Tutrani of Royersford; sister, Philomena Castelli of Hershey, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She considered her family to be her most treasured possession. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony B. Malaro in 2006 whom she met in Hershey while he was stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap. Visitation will be held in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory in Hershey on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00am in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, 17033. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg.
