Della Marie Sonni (1923 - 2017)

Della Marie Sonni, 93, of Hershey was reunited with her beloved husband Rudy on June 10, 2017. Della was the third of four children born to Joseph and Mary Angela Zaccagnini on December 8, 1923 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Della and Rudy were married for 70 years. Theirs was a love story for the ages. Together they raised six children, Randi (Bob) Mazzoni; Jacqueline (Chuck) Sludden; Rosemary (Mike) Walsh, deceased; Barbara (Tom) Ensminger; Thomas (Sharon) Sonni; and Lawrence Sonni. They were blessed to be surrounded by their adoring fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, one of whom was named after her.

Della was a gentle woman, who devoted her life to her family, her church and her fellow man. She was a culinary genius and an accomplished seamstress. Della was an avid golfer and she loved to dance. She was always smiling; her laugh warmed every room. Della was a joy to all who met her and she was loved by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10 am. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 am. Della will be interred with Rudy at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Rose Grant Scholarship Fund at Lebanon Catholic School, 1400 Chestnut Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
